I think it is one thing to be 149 for a WW fight by fight-time since you only need to lose two pounds for the weigh-in. It is another thing to take off weight down to closer to 140 because he hasn't had to do that since 2005.

Even if he is able to drain and rehydrate, you wonder if it will not catch-up with him during the fight at some point if it goes past 5 rounds...and that's if he rehydrated properly.

That's the risk he takes. He wants Pac (if he beats Hatton) so he has to fight JMM and out-do Pac.

I'm still in favor of fighters just fighting at their fight-time weight so there is no need for a fighter to take a chance of showing up unhealthy.

Please guys this is another cherry picked fight by Floyd where he faces a guy with no chance of beating him but is a "name" who will bring in money. 24/7 will hype this fight up though and people will actually think JMM is a threat. In the same way Hatton had a snowballs chance in hell so does JMM.

Floyd by stoppage in the later rounds. I'll be surprised if JMM makes it through the fight to the finish line. I kinda feel bad for JMM but I guess he decided he's gonna cash in finally after a long and illustrious career. He deserves all the money he gets in this fight.

Hopefully he doesn't retire after the loss and gets a 3rd fight with Pac before bowing out. Props to JMM though for an epic, HOF career and for fighting the very best out there.

        Hope not.

Thats one of the reason i was hoping hatton gets KO.

Please provide an example of when Morales supposedly towered over his opposition. Maybe you're mistaking him for Paul Williams?

            • You know, everyone was saying the same thing about DLH and Pacman when they fought. The size difference was too great and look what happened. I wouldn't count Marquez out for this fight even if it's Floyd we might see history repeating itself again.

              • Win win situation for Marquez, dont know how this fight enhances floyd jr.'s legacy. Lose lose situation for floyd jr. If he wins, he cherry picked a small 35 year old boxer. If he loses, my o my.

curious to see how the credible boxing journos see this.

Yeah but it's 2MB, you could get it down to 40k and it would still look the same on screen. There's no need for a sig to be print quality, it eats up bandwidth.

This is how I see it. Floyd Mayweather Jr needed a credible opponent for a comeback fight in Marquez, and sees Marquez as beatable and marketable due to his series with Pacquiao/current Top 3-5 P4P contention. Fight the man that gave Pacquiao his hardest fights in his career, hope Pacquiao beats Hatton, regain my P4P title, fight Shane Mosley at WW,and if I win I will retire as the top P4P fighter ever with credibility attached to it this time, and ride off into the sunset living up to best ever to lace them up. How far off am I here? It sounds about right to me.
