their styles are similar = defensive and counterpuncher.

This is how I see it. Floyd Mayweather Jr needed a credible opponent for a comeback fight in Marquez, and sees Marquez as beatable and marketable due to his series with Pacquiao/current Top 3-5 P4P contention. Fight the man that gave Pacquiao his hardest fights in his career, hope Pacquiao beats Hatton, regain my P4P title, fight Shane Mosley at WW,and if I win I will retire as the top P4P fighter ever with credibility attached to it this time, and ride off into the sunset living up to best ever to lace them up. How far off am I here? It sounds about right to me.

Floyd's a ***** but I bet your boy Junama isnt when he looked much bigger then Penosla? I bet Cotto wasnt when he was at 140 and outweighting guys by 15+ pounds in the ring. They werent *******, right? If Floyd fights Cotto and comes in at 148 like he normaly does and Cotto comes in at 162 like he normaly does, then Cotto isnt a *****, right?

If Floyd and fans like yourself feel the WW's are too big for Floyd come fight night, then guess what? Floyd should move down to JWW. It's that simple.

Yeah, Floyd's resume isn't even close to Ali's or SRR, or even SRL for that matter, or at least not yet. We will see how this comeback goes....

Clottey would fight Williams, but The Punisher would beat him handily. If Winky couldn't stop Paul's activity level and a defensive master at that, why would Clottey, a much smaller man with a similar defensive style, be able to? I have no doubt Clottey would take the challenge but it's ill advised.

And who's resume compares to Ali, SRR, or SRL? Stop trying to compare Floyd's resume unless you are willing to put forth a comparison of other boxers...

if floyd had made this fight immed after hatton, i'd agree. But the guy just got off the sofa for two years. Marquez is much sharper than i'd expect floyd to be. Marquez went through 2 (3?) world-class training camps while floyd was away.

What usually happens after a loss? Or a period of inactivity? You take a journeyman, or a smaller fighter. Usually, that smaller fighter is not an active champion, #2 p4p.
