Prime Roy would laugh at a shoulder roll if you thought that was gonna stop him from hitting you at will.

He didn't actually annihilate it. But he found a way to counteract it.

Is what how people should fight Mayweather? You can't just fight like Roy Jones Jr. It wasn't a style so much as it was an incredible amount of talent.

Agree. Ive seen Marlon Starling use it to.

Yes in a way i agree.

Toney's style is geared around drawing you in. If you can stick to the game plan and keep the fight at long range you can have major success against him. Problem is most people become so preoccupied with hitting him after they miss, and they end up not sticking to the game plan and standing right infront of him swinging away, and giving him counter punching opportunities. That is how Toney's style works.

A subtle move that works against Toney that Jones did is to move to Toney's right and double left hooks, because Toney bends the other way.

To beat Toney it is imperative that you dont get drawn in. Rahman 1,Oquendo both beat him imo. The reason though was because they kept the fight at long range.

Toney may possibly be the best ever at countering off the roll, but it's been around in one form or another for most of the past century at least.
