I've seen the shoulder roll used in 100 year old fight films. I'd say that Toney got his inspiration for it by watching Archie Moore.

Yea, I'm pretty sure I've seen Moore and Pep do it before.

Floyd Sr and Roger did it before Toney, and many fighters in the past did it before them.

Toney was influenced by watching old fights of Moore, Charles, and Walcott.
