Here's a theory...

I'm not arguing with how great Mayweather is, he is the best of his generation and I believe that he could beat anyone and everyone, if he chose to. He is one of the smartest, in and out of the ring, and one of the most highly adaptable fighters ever. I'm talking about how his career was managed, which is kudos to him, because you always have to have your best interest in mind, especially in a dangerous sport like this. But I believe that after the 1st Jose Luis Castillo fight, they went into safety mode. Compare his fights pre and post JLC and compare the comp, it's remarkable.
Even Steward says that Floyd knew that he could beat Oscar and Hatton and hyped the fight to the point where people clamored for it.
Before JLC 1, he was dominating undefeated fighters. After JLC 1, he fought Baldomir, Judah, Gatti, Oscar and Hatton, although undefeated, had to go up in weight to fight him.
and my previous post was just making the point that the onus behind Oscar De La Hoya and Hatton's maybe unrealistic hype was on them and their teams, not on Floyd Mayweather... though maybe you could say he took advantage of it depending on your perspectiveComment

i see what you're saying and there may be something behind Floyd's level of competition post-JLC... but you gotta remember he rematched JLC directly afterwards and won (without question this time) and i reckon the fact that he's out of his comfort zone at WW and has to give up many physical advantages is the reason he has been picking and choosing a little more conservatively

My point is not about Mayweather, but about how deserving Hatton is. BTW, you could also argue this about Manny's P4P ranking, but that's for another thread. You think Hatton will prove he deserves to be fighting Manny or will he be exposed as PBF's indirect hype job?Comment

Granted, but Hatton really didn't impress at 147, so why did Floyd fight him and not a Cotto or a Mosley?Comment

Well you didnt explain yourself, nobody really responded to your "theory" because they probably didnt understand what you were trying to say.Comment

Nice post. Do you think that Hatton deserves to fight Pacquiao or did the hype, which their own teams might have very well created, launched him Ricky into this position?

however he's still the legitimate top dog at 140lbs; a title that Pacquiao wants, which in my book means he is worthy of the fight
not to mention his ability to sell is warranty to fight just about whomever he feels to in this sport. Boxing has always been half sport half businessComment

If you didn't understand what I was saying, why were you so quick to respond about how ****** it was. I think you understood it, but just couldn't agree with it and responded with a childish remark.
Anyway, I don't really want this to be about you and me. If you don't understand it, there are other topics in forum that might suit your liking.Comment

SG, Mickey Malone, and QuCongee all did and they responded with proper opinions. Only you and Mr. Crust didn't and I couldn't fathom why because it's all there in black and white.
