Floyd doesn't go around scouting marketable but weak up-n-comers and groom them into superstars before fighting and knocking them out 10 years later

on paper Hatton was more than a worthy opponent and name on the resume, his genuine credentials are somewhat arguable to a degree but he's an elite boxer whatever way you look at it

I'm not arguing with how great Mayweather is, he is the best of his generation and I believe that he could beat anyone and everyone, if he chose to. He is one of the smartest, in and out of the ring, and one of the most highly adaptable fighters ever. I'm talking about how his career was managed, which is kudos to him, because you always have to have your best interest in mind, especially in a dangerous sport like this. But I believe that after the 1st Jose Luis Castillo fight, they went into safety mode. Compare his fights pre and post JLC and compare the comp, it's remarkable.

Even Steward says that Floyd knew that he could beat Oscar and Hatton and hyped the fight to the point where people clamored for it.

Before JLC 1, he was dominating undefeated fighters. After JLC 1, he fought Baldomir, Judah, Gatti, Oscar and Hatton, although undefeated, had to go up in weight to fight him.

You have a point.. Clever promoting and all that.. Hattons style was made for Floyd & he proved it.. I suppose the fact Hatton was unbeaten and had KTFO of most his opponents had nothing to do with it??
