WIlliams #5 at MW by The Ring Magazine WTF?

I agree that there probably are not 5 middleweights in the world that would beat him, but he shouldn't be ranked on the basis of one great performance against an inactive fighter now matter how highly regarded he may be. Ranking him no. 5 atMW is like presuming he would beat all of the other guys he jumped in the rankings, even though he most likely would. Still it is just a theoretical presumption until he actually does beat one, some, or maybe all of those fighters.....we had a discussion like this before.

thats true, if he makes weight its legal....but i think if paull williams would beat like a pavlik or abraham....then i think he could go back down to ww and get a big pay day

This is what fighting a faded "Name" fighter does for you, Pacman fought a faded oscar abd got rated high for it, Khan fought a faded Barrera and got rated high for it, Williams also fought a faded Winky and got rated high for it.

I dunno about Williams being ranked in 2 divisions, but as far as MWs go he should be ranked #2 only behind established stars Pavlik (Champion) & Abraham (#1)....... Williams would beat the likes of Mundine, Sturm, & Sylvester.

Yeah but what abou if both Pavlik and Abraham refuse to fight him? I hope they fight him.

Can anyone here, explain WTF the Ring is doing lately.

They have Pacquiao #5 at WW, Williams #2 at SWW(WTF?), They have Williams #5 at MW.

They also have Rolando reyes #4 at LW and they have Khan #10 at LW(WTF?)

They have Jose Lopez ranked #7 at FLyW, but he is the WBO super Fly Champ

They Have caballero, hatton and Rafa marquez but, now, Cotto or PW(whom they have ranled in the top 10 in 2 divisions)

Can anyone explain me WTF, they are doing, and in what thet base their Rankings.

Dont get me wrong, there rankings are better than almost anybody, but why this BS rankings sometimes?

I've said it before.. The Ring ratings are a long standing joke solely based on the opinions of biased editors.. They've got their favorites, and that's it.. Anyone who isn't American rarely gets a look in.. Boxing illustrated is a much better choice...

Maybe he is ranked 5 at mw because everone below him lost a fight and are 0-1 while he is 2-0 at mw and the guy at 10 just moved up because mar lost to pavlik and he drop out of the rankings so they all moved up some spots.
