It's because the ring rankings are based on accomplisments and not on hype and myths made up by his promoters. In fact I would venture to say that his idiotic promoters are the main reason why he can't get fights.

I don't have a problem with him being ranked that highly when you consider just how weak the division is.

I seen this happen one to may times. Before you know it he will be ranked the best pound for pound fighter. Cotto should've been ranked higher after he beat Mosley. Too many times fighters being called the best without ever fighting the top fighters yet.

Im not saying he cant beat this guys, Im just saying that s not fair to rank him that, high, when he only have 1 fight at the weight and againts a old inactive fighter!!!!!!!!!

I believe he is the 3rd best MW, behind Abraham and Pavlik. I know he is good.

My point is how he will be ranked higher than ther rest, just because of 1 fight.

Just so we are clear, I am not here to defend the Ring Magazine rankings, I am just giving my take on how I believe the division rankings are done.

You yourself know (atleast in 1 case) that I don't always agree with Ring's placement of fighters in given rankings

If it makes you feel better Paul was ranked 11th PFP at the end of 08 and thats fair since all the guys ranked ahead of him haven't lost yet. And seriously why should Paul jump ahead of all these so called boxers who have actually been doing work in one actual divisions. The Winky fight isn't gonna help much either since winky has been unranked for long time now.

And you know whats funny.... The editors at Ring have opinions just like we have opinions, and I would bet anything, that there are editors who when deciding these rankings, have the some of same philisophical differences we are debating about right now...
