who cares about who calls who? according to your logic, cotto would still be 0-0 because he NEVER calls ANYONE out

i'll ask you again: you called marquez a ***** and i replied that he jumped in weight to fight the best fighters at each weight class. what has mayweather done lately? can you talk about his last 3 fights? don't call names on fighters that have 5 times bigger balls than the one you're defending

Everyone is missing one point here. Marquez is the active P4P fighter, Mayweather is retired and looking for a fight. Any fight that suits him. Marquez offered his services at 140. That's reasonable.

Oh yeah, and Pavlik is a middleweight only so far. Mayweather has moved up from SFW, so it's not unreasonable to say come down to 140. If he had only ever fought at 147, his name would never have been mentioned.

Mayweather is not a true 147 pound fighter. He is actually more suited to 140. Everyone is going nuts over nothing.

Marquez wants te fight not Mayweather, so dont blame this **** on him. Like I've said before if Mayweather called out or wanted to fight Marquez and didnt want to at least go to 140 then he would be a puss, but he didnt. hes still retired and Marquez put his name in his mouth. Mayweathers last 3 fights?? fought the lineal champ at 147, best guy at 154, and best guy at 140 so whats your point??

No it would not have improved DLH's legacy at all if he had won that fight.

And no one was claiming that DLH was a natural Lightweight at that time.

And DLH did have to move down in weight for that fight.

            Here is the problem.

If Marquez fights Mayweather at Welterweight.

Do you think he would be the first fighter to ever jump from lightweight to welterweight to fight a great fighter?

            The answer is no.

So with that being said, I want you to understand that Marquez is in the same position allot of fighters in boxing history have been in.

Fighting Out of their comfort zone to achieve a truly great opportunity.

Take Cotto & Mosely for example.
Both of them were given the chance to fight Floyd in their careers and both turn it down. Because the circumstances were not right for them.

Well look what that decision has gotten them today.
Now they are both only dream that they can get another oppurtunity to fight floyd.

            The point is this:
Ready or Not, Great Athletes always take advantage of the moment.
Thats what makes them great, the ability to do great things when they are not expected or ready 2.

I know it might seem like too much risk for JMM to fight Floyd at WW..
but guess what, Thats makes the win so much better if he wins.
If JMM accepts the fight at WW....All the pressure would be on floyd to not just win but dominate. and people would only expect JMM to be somewhat competitive. Where is the glory for Floyd in this match up???

So my point is that understand boxing history and understand that instead of making excuses for JMM, we should encourage him to truly take on a great challenge to become possible the first person to ever beat Floyd and if he does become possibly the greatest fighter his country has ever produce.
This is the sort of idolising post that gets Mayweather a bad name. He is possibly one of the top 30 fighters that America has ever produced, based on skills. Based on who he's beaten he's not even in the top 100. And I like him a lot as a fighter, but the way some of his fans idolise him is infuriating.

mayweather doesn't want it? is this why he's NEGOTIATING a fight? because he doesn't want it? yeah, i suppose he's being forced to negotiate it

he fought a bum, a guy that wasn't never recognized as the best 154 (didn't even have a belt), and a 140 pounder (that lost to collazo in his other 147 fight) in 147. wow, what a wonderful streak he had going there

there's a very thin margin between being a fan and being a dumb, blind fan. you just crossed that margin with your last message, so i won't bother with you anymore

                • Weigh in-
                  Marquez: 142 Mayweather: 145

                  Fight night-
                  Marquez: 145 Mayweather: 150-2

or something like that... it can be done but I think marquez would be too filled in to keep certain things in his arsenal.

Yeah it would've improved DLH legacy if he won, it would have been the first time he won a big fight!!! And beating a old Chavez and turning the mexican ppl against you is not a big win. just had to put that out there.

Back to the point though. Would I like to see Mayweather fight Marquez at 140 or a catch weight...YEAH. Would I like to see the fight period....HELL YEAH!! Can Marquez get the biggest win of his carrer?? Can Mayweather comeback off almost a 2 year layoff and beat the #2 p4p Marquez?? I just want to see the fight if you ask me.
