u dont think cotto can beat clottey so it irrelevant? How so? All i know is that cotto fought margarito & mosley, 2 fighters floyd ducked/neverfought. He beat mosley, got beat by a possibly cheating margarito.

Floyd jr & cotto have 3 common opponents.

Cotto tko'd all of them while floyd UD them.

All im saying is miguel has a chance vs the so called GOD OF BOXING floyd jr.

Thats all. but your not even having that huh?

Sheesh. Why am I talking to you? You're not really informed about the sport. No offense.

A history lesson. And this was on televised TV, so it's pretty easy for you to verify.

After Floyd beat Zab, he was looking for his next fight. Everyone expected it to be Oscar. In fact, Oscar had called a press conference for Atlantic City in June. That was the same weekend as Hopkins-Tarver. Seasoned fans will remember that was the same night that Arum had the competing PPV for Cotto-malignaggi.

Anyway, Team May is expecting to fight Oscar. As early as September because Sept is some type of Mexican holiday. Oscar announces that he "doesn't want to fight this fall", and he wouldn't be ready until the next year. Ouch. Surprises everybody.

The buzz becomes Floyd-Shane. Team May is reaching out to GBP/Jin. They're talking. People are excited about the prospect because they saw Zab trouble Floyd early with his speed. HBO even books a date for the fall. Nov 8th, i believe. After Shane knocks out a very shot vargas, Merchant does the post-fight. He asks Shane: will you accept the mayweather offer? Shane says "No. I want to go on vacation, and I'm getting some dental work". THIS WAS ON NATIONAL HBO. Everybody was, like, WTF?? People said that it was a clear duck. While others said that he stepped aside knowing that Oscar wanted Floyd next year.

Anyway, Floyd is JACKED UP at that point. Left with no viable opponent. Gatti had some crappy belt at WW. Clearly, Floyd couldn't unify vs Gatti. Nobody wanted to see that bloodbath again. Gatti is favored over Baldomir. Shockingly, Tata knocks Gatti out. Boom. Floyd lucks the phuck up. baldo is now the Ring Magazine champion, and Floyd is ranked #1 at WW.

Baldomir had beat Zab, and KO'd Gatti in a seven-month period. HBO approves him as the opponent for Floyd's fall PPV date. Calls it "Pretty Risky". Fight does well. 340K PPV buys, and about 10,000 gate. May makes a bit over $10 mil.

Note: floyd had bought out of his TR contract for $750K. At the time, TR and GBP did not do business and were not even on speaking terms. PBF got out so he could fight Oscar. So, he hired GTP to a free-agent, one-off contract to promote "Pretty Risky".

During the fall of that year - and before Floyd's fight - we hear that Shane is in negotiation for a fight. WTF again. Shane fights Collazo in an empty MB Events Center for under $2 mill.

Right after Christmas, the final details for "The World Awaits" are finalized, and both May and DLH head down to the SuperBowl to begin doing media to promote the fight.

If I am remembering any part of this incorrectly, I invite an experienced poster to correct.

              dave,

I want to ask this as clearly as possible:

Are you saying that Hatton never turned down a Mayweather fight?

Please be clear and unambiguous in your response.

              Thank you.

Yes, the hypocrisy of some of his die hard fans is sickening.
