Don't have anything against the guy becasue the truth is I don't know him personally. But for some reason nothing he does is fvery exciting. I find most of his fights to be rather dull.
How can anyone dislike Paul Williams?

I dont hate him. I just dont find him that entertaining.
I respect the fact that he is willing to fight anybody!!!!!!!!!Comment

cant think of a reason to dislike him......
I think, just like many fighters, people dislike the small subset of his fans that give him irrational amounts of praise, and it eventually leads to disliking the fighter themself.Comment

Just like Taylor, I like the guy, I don't like his fighting, and his fans can piss me off immensely, especially the one who replaced Mayweather with him, because... they are nothing alike, in or out of the ring, which makes me think that their choice is based on skin color and nothing else.Comment

His win over Margarito? While people were accusing Mayweather of ducking him? No can't be that must be racial. But why would a reason for someone else following a fighter immensely piss you off, lol.Just like Taylor, I like the guy, I don't like his fighting, and his fans can piss me off immensely, especially the one who replaced Mayweather with him, because... they are nothing alike, in or out of the ring, which makes me think that their choice is based on skin color and nothing else.Comment

Really? Although I'm not entirely convinced Winky is going to win this, I do think he is a very live underdog. I see Paul having a hard time landing cleanly against Wright, and Wright being able to counter cleanly. If anything, it'll probably be Paul's workrate that is going to win this fight for him, but I think the cleaner, more effective punches will be landed be Wright. If Wright can manage to throw 75+ punches a round like he did against Quartey and Taylor, he will probably win the fight.I actually kind of like watching both, although I like the rangy volume punching of Williams better than the inside volume punching of Diaz.
It's pretty clear that I like range fighting much more than inside fighting I think... I mean, **** I am almost alone in thinking that Corrales-Castillo I was not the best ever.
I hope you are right, but... Wright's legs suck these days.
He's going to have a hard time moving away from a tornado of punches and keeping the energy level he needs to outwork Williams to a decision (because he damn sure is not going to knock him out) at his age.
I just have a really hard time seeing Wright winning this.
The worst thing he could possibly do is turtle up and let Paul pound away at his guard. Winky cannot be hesitant and wait for his turn to respond.
Given all that, I'm cheering for Paul

Because boxing is a sport so race, creed and the like should not matter IMO, does that seem weird?
The fact that so many ppl like 2 completely different (as athlete as personality) individuals make me think. A lot of ppl seem to do it for fighters of their ethnicity. And I am not talking about supporting a fighter -I can understand that- I am talking about the blind nuthugging that too often comes with it. Another example of this is when a couple of weeks ago someone compared JCC to Margarito.Comment

Interestingly enough, boxing seems to be the only sport that still has racial malice associated with it, at least with the fans. I have no idea why this is. I only presume it's because of the gruesome nature of the sport, that some fans take it personally.Because boxing is a sport so race, creed and the like should not matter IMO, does that seem weird?

If someone involved and familiar with the MMA community can tell us if it's the same over there.
Then maybe we can find a relation between violence and race. Maybe race only becomes an issue when violence is present.Last edited by deliveryman; 04-11-2009, 02:20 AM.Comment
