Yea, and Joe stayed comfortably in England, in the SMW division. Meanwhile, Roy was moving up. He wasn't facing the best, this I know, but at least he was making moves in other divisions. Hell, he could've stayed at SMW too, and then we would probably have a much different ending than Joes 20+ defences, and 46-0 record. One can only speculate though.Comment

Spot on Gunner, Roy is a fraud and one of the biggest cons in boxing history. His handspeed and reflexes were great, having them on display against postmen is not. He had absolutely no boxing fundamentals and a **** chin, he only took the Toney fight because he was being called a fraud (and rightly so) and he knew Toney was well out of shape and killing himself to make 168. He had to lose like 35-40lbs in 6 weeks and the Roid groupies have the nerve to moan about him losing to Tarver when it was much less. At the end of the day that's his only A-level win on his resume, and it was against a cardboard cutout of an A-level fighter. Pretty sad how so many people can be so gullible, just because they see top notch handspeed and brutal KO's of bums...I'm almost embarrassed for them. I was a Jones fan and still like watching him fight...but I don't get caught in the hype.Seriously, Roy has to be the most ridiculously overrated fighter in history! Lets take a look at what he's done.
When people thought of him as great on his run from MW to HW he never even beat a linear champion (top champ in the division) and he never once defended against his top rated contender. Roy is the ultimate paper champion, he is a fraud of the highest order.
At MW: Won a vacant strap against Bernard Hopkins. Made a couple of defences against nobodys then moved up when G-Man was a clear #1 contender to him.
At SMW: Fought a dead at the weight James Toney (Liles was the linear champ at the time) and won. Fought cops and postmen instead of fighting Eubank, Benn and Liles.
At LHW: Won a vacant title against Griffin (at the second time of asking) then went on to duck DM for a whole 5 years.
At HW: Fought Ruiz who wasn't even top 3 for a Don King manufactured strap, Got called out by Lewis then ran away back to 175.
The first time Roy fought a #1 contender was Antonio Tarver after moving down from HW and the only reason he took that fight was because Lewis called him out.
This guy is a fraud, he's the biggest fraud in boxing history who avoided all the top rated dangermen and took vacant titles and fought for the lesser straps.

at SMW: Erased dispute about being a fraud by beating one of the pound for pound best and former champion to his MW title James Toney. Meanwhile Eubank and Benn publicly stated they would not fight Jones
at LHW: Lost a controversial decision to Griffin and avenged that by destroying him in the rematch. Beat about a dozen of future and former champs of the division, some of them who have kept their titles until just last year
at HW: Took a dangerous fight against a much bigger, younger man in Ruiz and schooled him. Although I will admit Ruiz isnt the best heavyweight he has defeated Holyfield, Rahman, Johnson, Golota and nearly beat Valuev not too long ago.
If youre taking about facts take all of them into consideration or else you'll just be made to look like a fool. No matter how carefully you think anyone can duck tough opposition in this sport you dont compile a resume like that by doing so

How does he have a better resume if Calzaghe holds wins over more top rated fighters?
We can go on and list who both beat and fought and Calzaghe fans will attack Roys wins and Roy fans will attack Joes wins.
The fact is though Calzaghe beat more top rated champions and more #1 contenders.Comment
