This sounds like a very good idea in principle.

I agree with that. A lot of it is common sense. But the notion from the boxing establishment that Bradley and Holt for example fought for the 140 lb. title is ridiculous. Those guys basically fought ten pounds over. This kind of blatant "unofficial weigh in" dishonesty is what gets me.

i agree but ide at welter weight just so theres a lil inbetween for people like myself where its hard to make 150 if thats the weight we catch on

cause if i come in at 130, and my oppenent comes in at 150

            im screwed

What is the point of having a weight class, if a fighter can come in 12-13 pounds above that limit on fight night?

getting good representation will prevent that

I know your point!! and its a good one.. but right now.. you are having 10-12 lbs of difference...

imagine if we go as the stooooopid idea of pooooootango...

little guys wont have a chance to shine!!!! and there could be more weight difference....

if they make the same day weight in... then... obviously .. like malcom say.. fighters will get exposed... and almost all of them.. are going to be movinge up some divisions...

Example Clottey Williams Margarito all come in at fight night over 162. Williams is 164 Margarito is 162 and Clottey is a whooping 170. Hopkins at 160 fight night use to come in at 168,yet these so called WW are calling out PBF/Pacman who weigh in at the WW limit

Making weight is unhealthy, too - not just boxing but in other sports that require it - jockeys, wrestlers, etc.

Too many ridiculously close light weight classes, not enough heavy/superheavy weight classes.

This is why they stopped same day weigh in's in the first place, was levander johnson the guy who got killed dehydrating himself to make weight then taking punches to the head?

Is it possible for the fighters to undergo some sort of medical on the day of the fight or day before which would confirm they are fit and healthy enough to compete?
