Hopkins Blames Adamek, Main Events For Fight Crumble

According to whom, does Adamek deserves more? Hopkins makes a good point by referencing the Joppy fight. He made $300K for the Joppy fight and this was after his fight with Trinidad!

Joppy didn't draw crowds, Adamek does. Adamek brings a lot of money to the table. Boxing is a business, not just a sport, and in a business, how many paying fans you bring to the table is a big part of the negotiations.

Lots of fans want it, including me, but Hopkins doesn't, presumably because at age 44 he feels he's slowed down too much to cope with someone as fast as Dawson. And at that age he has every right to fight whoever he likes, or to retire if he wants to.

Funny how now everyone is defending Adamek because he's the bigger draw, but no one was defending Hatton when Pacquiao was asking for a ridiculous 60-40 split when Hatton alone will bring 15k Brits to vegas.

Lots of people were defending Hatton at that time and for exactly the same reason. Pac had the résumé but Hatton brought more money to the table. That's why he ended up with a 48/52 split.

Having said that, those who are saying Hopkins is scared of fighting Adamek are being ridiculous - it was initially Hopkins who tried to make the fight, not Adamek. As with several other proposed Hopkins fights that didn't happen, it's his pride that killed the deal. He thought he could win, that's why he tried to make the fight in the first place.

You're absolutely right on the $6 million offered by HBO. Tell me something, what other fighter would get HBO to offer $6 mill to fight Adamek? Hopkins brings more money to the table, the 6 mill would have not bring presented to Ademk vs another opponent. HBO would offer $6 mil for Hopkins vs several opponents.

The good news is Glen Johnson vs Adamek is a MUCH better fight, and it's in the works as a possibility.
