Mayweather has better speed, power, accuracy, is the better counter puncher

Whitaker is the better inside fighter, better combination puncher / body puncher and had the better workrate

Defense and Chin is about the same

Overall I couldn't say which is better then the other

I agree extremely tough call i loved both these guys as fighters, but floyd has had a better career,people forget how many weight divisions floyd has jumped he started at feather i believe

Good posts, but I think Whitaker clearly has better defense than Floyd. Floyd got hit more in his last 2 fights than Whitaker did when he was boxing out of shape and after blowing Hollywoods with Jack Nicholson.

True but Whitaker got dropped about 11 times and defense and counter punching go hand in hand and Floyd > Whitaker at that. Whitaker was really good at making you miss but from watching him, he didn't always counter in those situations. I'm not gonna hold it against him, the fact that he got dropped so many times because it was mostly due to being off balance and showboating

floyd is the better fighter period. i don't know how many time this thread can be made. skill for skill. floyd is much better than whitaker. i have already explained why in past posts, and will not in this one. floyd is more skilled and more gifted overall than pernell was.
