i agree. Mayweather vs Pac would be a huge draw but i wouldnt give Mayweather too much credit for a win. (ofcourse) we will all get ****** into how it's going to be a great fight (with the help of HBO 24/7) but i only see it being great for Pac. same goes for Marquez if he manages to get a fight with pretty boy.
a true victory for Mayweather awaits him in the WW division. Mosley being #1. the clock is clicking and if mayweather passes on Sugar, the winner of Cotto/Clottey will be next in the line for Mosley and either one of those guys can walk away with the title. so with that here's some great options for Money May.
1. the winner of Wright/ Williams
2. Margarito in front of thousands of mexicans in Tijuana.
3. put on some weight and fight Kelly Pavlik.
4. follow in ODLH's footsteps and drain himself down to featherweight to take on Edwin Valero.
5. make a deal with golden boy/ affliction for an MMA event.
6. make Dana White a deal and fight in the octagon.
7. stay retired and keep talking ****.Comment

Just give me Floyd vs Manny and I will be on cloud 9. It would be for everything, previous p4p vs new p4p. ATG vs ATG. Prime vs Prime (you can fudge it). It is a bout that could hit the stratosphere in getting regular folks into boxing, especially because it will be an exiting fight guranteed.Comment

He brought his speed up with him, not sure about his power.Ok, fair enough. But people do give Manny a chance at 147. On some boxing list he is considered as one of the top 10 at Welter Weight? I saw it when The Kirkland fight aired and I didn't understand why would Manny be a face at 147? And Roach also said that he would try to take whatever advantage from Mayweather he could because Floyd is a talented guy. De La Hoya didn't fight back but Manny did look like he was in great shape and brought his speed and power up with him.
You're right that he's surprisingly highly rated at Welter (#5 by The Ring), but when the #1 P4P fighter is only ranked #5 at the weight, that says something. He would definitely be the underdog if he fought any of the top 4, or if he fought Williams (who isn't rated but should be, IMO).
At 135 definitely, at 140 possibly, at 147 or even 144, I doubt it very much.I can see that being the case but we also should take into consideration that JMM KO'd these bigger guys, so he could possibly be getting stronger moving up then getting weaker, wouldn't you say? He connected on Pacquiao at 130 and couldn't drop him but then moves up to 135 & KO's two rugged, naturally bigger guys? I would say that he is getting stronger than weaker right? Mayweather moved up from Jr Lightweight & adjusted, not saying JMM is in Floyd's league but he is in great shape and fights hard, Floyd is the favorite to win but it could be more competitive than a fight with a Welter.
Marquez has proved he's competitive with the elite at Lightweight, but we don't know how he'd do at higher weights, and until we do, Mayweather fighting him at a higher weight wouldn't help his legacy, IMO. And despite his having the power to KO top lightweights, JMM had to out-think them first in order to be able to do it. He didn't overwhelm them with his power, like Katsides nearly did to Casamayor, he just fought the more intelligent fight and wore them down before eventually delivering the coup de grace.
As I say, if he does come down to their weights to fight them, that's a whole different ballgame, and he'd get a huge amount of respect for that. If he fights them at Welter or even at catchweight, he'd get less respect, especially in the case of Marquez - and especially because many of his fans keep saying Floyd is not a natural Welter. If he's not a natural Welter, why not fight Pac at 140?Last edited by Dave Rado; 03-21-2009, 11:48 AM.Comment

He may not have the balls to fight Cotto(sarcasm)..... But he can KO Wlad Klitschko. If he can KO the bigshow, then he will desecrate the Klitschko bros.Comment
