How does that work? Whitaker uses the jab consistently. Mayweather does not, and he went to the body more and engaged his opponents more than Mayweather.

    Strange pick.
floyd is much better skilled and a much better pure boxer than pea was. floyd's jab to the body is one of his best weapons and he used it many times. watch his fights with justin jukko, tony pep, jerry cooper, catsillo, and chavez, just to name a few. he had a great jab, but stopped using it consistently once he went up to welterweight. his jab was beatifully thrown, whether to the body or head. do some more research. floyd's skillset are a testament of time. we may never see a fighter with his type of skillset overall for many years, period. i can argue this because i've followed him since amatuers, and he put his skills together very well at a young age. his mindset in that ring is magical...

      Robinson
      Pep
Lopez (this could be a little bit of a controversial pick but Lopez was among the best pure boxers I've ever seen)
      Leonard
      Maybe Tunney or Charles.
I agree and i disagree. I see where you're coming from with Ali, but at the same time who are we to say whats the right way to box. Sure Ali punched at weird angles put his hands down, shuffled his feet etc etc, but he knew what he was doing and the man was always very in control of the fight and with dictating the pace. He wasnt conventional, but he was very savvy and brought great gameplans to the ring and executed them. to me he's one of the great boxers because of that.

First point i disagree with whole heartedly. Why? Whitaker has beaten elite fighters in their prime Mayweather has not. Therefore Whitaker is more established against the best fighters.

Lets just leave out who was the pure Boxer, because it was irrelevant to begin with. This thread is entitled "Best" Boxers of All Time" and in threadstarters original statement he did not confirm, that the picks you made had to be orthodox/conventional fighters to be considered.

Ive seen nearly all Floyd's fights dude, but at the end of the day dude dont have any Azumah Nelson's,J C Chavez's on his rec, he has good solid B + fighters like Castillo, and old past prime guys like DLH.

Whitaker was a better fighter, because he beat elite fighters in their prime. Floyd retired in his prime.
