So you agree that Khan only won those rounds so easily because the cut was so bad?

      • Cut or Not Cut. Khan would have probably won anyway.

            How do you know?

As far as I could see, Khan wasn't able to throw anything that caused Barerra and real trouble until after he couldn't see the punches and Barerra still showed the ability to throw punches that Khan visibly reacted to.

It didn't look decisive to me at all until after the cut.

So why did you say "end of"? The truth is, we don't know what would have happened if Barrera hadn't got cut. And the truth is that most refs would have stopped the fight before the fifth and it would have then been a NC. So while the record books will record a UD for Khan, this win is meaningless (except in the sense that it allowed us to see that Khan has improved substantially under Roach); and no one should read much into it. It doesn't prove that Khan is better than the current version of Barrera, and certainly says nothing about how he'd do against a good Lightweight.

I think Khan would have won anyway, but this fight certainly did not prove that.

                  Good point.

But Khan was looking good before the cut anyway. The way he boxed, he looked very calm and collected.

Sure the cut did not help, but Khan does still deserve credit for the way he performed

Indeed, but there's only so much credit a boxer who has been at it for so long is supposed to recieve just for looking like a good boxer in the ring.

I just disagree with the way this win is being portrayed by the media and even the Khan camp as a monumental win ("I proved everyone wrong" etc), when really Khan was only up against a capable/fit to continue opponent for less than two minutes.

                    • it only went 5 rounds so Khan could get a cheap victory over a hall of fame fighter! I agree it should of been stopped after the first round and ruled a no contest!
