Barrera: "They Should Have Stopped it in The First"

Former three division champion Marco Antonio Barrera says that his fight with Amir Khan should have been stopped in the first round. During the action in round one, a clash of heads opened up a huge gash on Barrera's head. Barrera says the cut was no better in the first than it was in the fifth. He couldn't see from the first round on. The fight was evantually stopped in the fifth, with Barrera losing a one-sided technical decision. [details]

Yeah? So why did you want to continue, Marco?

I agree, He was at a huge disadvantage for 90% of the fight because of that horrible cut.

because he thinks he would be brave if he did not quit. elite fighters do not quit. but then again, some of them end up punch drunk...

either way, Brilliant perfomance by Amir Khan.

all his haters are 25 year old fat bums sittin at home, envious of the 22 year old kid who is makin millions...

They are not excuses. Barrera is a warrior, of course he isn't going to quit of his own accord. That doesn't mean he didn't want the fight to be stopped. The cut hindered his vision and affected his performance, so he's right -- it should have been stopped earlier.

They are excuses....He's not acting like a pro here taking away from his opponents win.

I'm a huge MAB fan but over the years he's made some crazy excuses after losing fights!

He done it with Jones and he done it with Pacquiao.

Sure, but I agree with him this time.
