Barrera was definately getting outworked; but i just thought it was rather funny that the doc decided to call the fight after the nc rule was nullified.

I have never seen a cut that bad personally, especially on the hairline, which usually isn't that bad. I don't know if the cut man could have done a better job because it looked like a gash, not a cut.
There was nowhere for him to try and close the skin, it was so far apart and split open.
It's a shame because I thought it would have been a decent fight.
“All my years in boxing, in the corner with other greats such as Roberto Duran, Pipino Cuevas and so many more, I never had to deal with such a huge cut,” Rivera said. “When I first went to work on it, between rounds one and two, I could see it was three inches long. It was the worst cut I have ever seen.
“I applied the cut mix and I could see white, I could see the bone in there,” Rivera said. “Usually you wory about cuts on the eyelid and how they will affect the boxer’s vision. But this one was worse. When I put pressure on the cut, when I squeezed it, the blood came spurting out. It hit an artery and the blood just flowed and flowed.”
End result was an ingnominous defeat by fifth-round technical decision (stoppage at 2:36 of round five of the 12-rounder) for the future Hall Of Famer.
Rivera said the cut required 30 stitches and the attention of two doctors Barrera had brought to the UK as invited guests. Both the physicians and MAB absolved Rivera of any blame for not closing up the head wound.
“Marco gave me a vote of confidence,” Rivera said. “Marco said, ‘Don’t worry about it because it took the doctors a long time to fix it up for me.”
Rivera said the beaten Barrera was in his Radisson Hotel room near the M.E.N Arena as a plastic surgeon from Guadalajara and the doctor who regularly attends to Mexican boxing brothers Juan Manuel and Rafael Marquez stitched the cut.
“It was funny because the plastic surgeon just came over as a guest of Marco, not to work on cuts,” Rivera said. “The other doctor, the Marquez guy, has lots of experience in boxing. They both said no one could’ve stemmed the blood during the bout.”
Rivera has love and respect for MAB, rightly so after nearly two decades of being in his camp, and he thinks now might be the time for the once awesome fighter to hang up the gloves.
Rivera said the recovery period from the head cut would be “five or six months.
“I don’t think Marco should go on,” Rivera said. “The last two or three years, he was bored and just going through the motions with boxing. But he was in great condition and really up for this fight. His punches had the old snap. Everytime he moved his head or his feet after he got cut, the blood began flowing worse.”

Barerra wasn't getting beaten up till after the clash of heads happened.
Watch the fight and tell me I'm not right.

Never mind though.

So what if Khan was winning the round? He was winning the round, not the fight. If we knew how fights would pan out in one round, noone would watch for more than a round because they aparrently know what is going to happen already.
Was Khan slaughtering Barerra before the cut?
Did he shake Barerra up before the cut?
Did he make Barerras face swell up before the cut?
Did Barerra go to the ropes before the cut?
Did Barerra start backing away from Khan before the cut?
No. To all of them.
Can you show/reference me one moment where Khan unleashed any of his combos, or anything that made Barerra fall back on the ropes BEFORE he got a three inch gash to the bone in his face?
Hmm?
Didn't think so. Nobody can't because it didn't happen.
Khan WASN'T thrashing Barerra until AFTER he got the gash.

You're going on like Khans speed was the reason he won.
I'm just telling you it wasn't is all because Khan wasn't really doing the dismantling work people are saying he was doing until after Barerra got a cut that broke his rhythm and shoudl've stopped the fight, but for some reason didn't.
The only thing that REALLY ****ed up Barerra was the cut because it was only after it happened that Khan started to work him.Last edited by GrizzleBoy; 03-16-2009, 07:41 PM.

They clearly waited until the NC rule was void.
