If you're so confident that he couldn't hang with Floyd, then why didn't Floyd fight him?? O that's right...HE'S RETIRED!!! IN HIS PRIME!!
Co sign!!!
If its so easy for FLoyd to beat Cotto, why not get it out of the way already? I mean since this is so easy for FLoyd he can take Cotto as a tune up and make big bucks out of it.
Wait, he retire when Cotto was the only choice, right?
I love this Floyd woulda, Coulda, shoulda scenarios!!!!!!
this is a boxing forum, it is obvious that potential fights/matchups are going to be discussed.
Mayweather Jr.-Cotto isn't a "potential matchup"...unless Floyd's retirement status changes.
Take it to 'Fantasy Fights', FFS.
There are countless real potential matchups being discussed on these boards. Instead of discussing them, you pop up arbitrarily to make a point you've already made (how many times?)...basically, the same generic "Cotto ain't on Mayweather's level" screed we've heard a million times over...just to stir the pot, because maybe you feel like Floyd isn't being talked about enough on here or something. If you're gonna dig this up, how about some fresh insight?
When the Mayweather-Cotto fan rivalry **** even infests simple topics, like, say, who the best bodypunchers in the sport are today, you know some people are hurting inside.
That is essentially my point. People will use arguments with other fighters, and desperate people will have to go as far back as the 70's, but anyone with a clue can tell the obvious difference in class and caliber between fighters.
You can't compare how Floyd and Margarito both would fight Cotto. Two completely different fights.
The problem is Floyd's NEVER fought Cotto, so at the end of the day it's hearsay. Kinda like Rid**** Bowe never fighting Lennox Lewis. Would Lewis have beat him? Who knows, it's hearsay.
Floyd can beat Cotto, but it's a bit naive to say Floyd beats Cotto soundly because of what Margarito did. That's why there's fights to see WHO WOULD win, but in the end it's your opinion...and you're entitled.
we all know fight are fought in the ring and that is one thing floyd does not do. he hand picks all his opponents. the guy has talent but anybody can look good against lesser opponents. to be the best you have to fight the best. the ww devision is full of talent and floyd fought none of the top guys. no paul williams, no cotto, no ssm, no clottley just to name a few. but he did fight a journey man in baldomir a stepping stone in zab judah (my boy BUt it's true) and a golden boy that has not been golden for years now. oh isnt that the same guy pac man stopped. come one we can go back and forth till we are blue in the face but the fact is floyd never took care of business he left when he had no choice but to fight..............
There are so many 'coulda/shoulda/woulda' scenarios issued in defence of Floyd because there are so many jackasses on this site yapping how X fighter coulda/shoulda/woulda whooped him if only Floyd wasn't "scared" to fight.
You're ALL obsessed with this petty bull****. And none of you are better than each other.
ive never once said floyd is scared of anyone. in fact, ive defended his decision not to fight margarito. Anything else? we can do this all day. well, i get out of work 5 central.
cotto is a much bigger and stronger fighter than floyd, he has good handspeed, good footwork, jab, body punching, power, arsenal of punches, left hook and even defence.
floyd has never met a fighter as big as cotto with the skills he posses. cotto would beat floyd.
