Cotto can not beat Floyd Mayweather... I would beat 2,500 via paypal if that fight ever happened, Mayweather would win by UD... like Emmanuel Stewart said, "The only way Mayweather ever looses is to a big Welterweight"... or a super welterweight and knowing Floyd he's not gonna fight someone way to big for him... The chances of someone beating him his size are slim to none... And I like Cotto he's one of my favorite fighters.
If Cotto couldn't even hang with Margarito for 12 rounds...

cotto is not that much bigger, and his power is mildly overrated. his defense, handspeed and footwork are laughable compared to FMJ.
and it is spelled defense.Comment

When I read the thread title I thought this was gonna be about Cotto vs. Clottey, you know, a fight that looks like it's actually gonna happen. But nope, it's another Floyd thread about another imaginary fight.
Should have known.
If Floyd ever un-retires, this place is gonna explode with traffic.Comment

And herein lies the lack of non-financial reward in a PBF comeback.
All the potential matchups Floyd could return for have a catch.
Manny Pac : if Floyd beats him, Manny was a little guy, not a legitimate welterweight threat, etc.
Miguel Cotto : if Floyd beats him, Cotto was never the same after being hit with bricks, plaster and a length of lead pipe by Margarito, Floyd would've lost to a pre-Margarito Cotto, he was a coward because he waited until Cotto was 'shot' before cherrypicking him
Shane Mosley : if Floyd beats him, Shane was way past prime and only beat up on a punching bag in Margarito which owed largely to a very favorable styles clash anyway (actually, partly true)
If one of those latter 2 beats the other in a rematch before Floyd fights him, that's just enough war to soften 'em up for Floyd.
You *******s have ruined Floyd Mayweather Jr. as a topic of discourse. There is literally nowhere for discussion on Floyd to go. Even if he had a desire to seize his legacy and really transcend this bull****, he'd have to do something ****** like go up and fight Pavlik. At this stage, there is zero moral credit for him in anything he does short of that.Comment

Stop using that lame argument. JLC had the same deficiencies and beat Floyd in their first fight according to many people. Funny how that's the last time Floyd took on a dangerous opponent in his prime. Peculiar wouldn't that say.Comment

I have to agree with E. Cotto would not beat Floyd. By the simple fact that Floyd doesn't care if he gets a decision win.
Besides that, Cotto is a power oriented guy. Power oriented guys always look ****** when fighting Floyd. Does anyone remember the Baldomir fight? Floyd's speed and agility will get him a W against Cotto. Sure Cotto fought Mosley but Mosley relied on his hand speed for that fight. When he got beat to the punch he was drained. Floyd doesn't do that. Floyd will use his agility along with his speed to dominate fighters. Floyd was beat to the punch numerous times against Zab but guess what? Floyd then started using his agility. Cotto wouldn't be able to deal with that. Then when Cotto pressures Floyd will do what all his haters dislike "run away". Although its called "NOT BEING HIT".
Also and this whole Floyd wouldn't fight someone larger than him. Well, dont forget that Floyd attempted to fight with Spinks who at the time was JUNIOR MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION. At which Spinks ducked the fight not Floyd. So floyd isn't afraid to fight larger guys, get that out of your mind.
Also, Floyd is 5'8" with 72" reach.
Cotto is 5'8" with 67" reach.
If stats are your thing. Do the math. A speedy, agile, accurate guy, with longer reach VS a decent speed, incredible power guy who doesn't have size advantage.
Im putting my money on Floyd by UD.Comment

Floyd had a torn rotator cuff, and JLC really caught him off guard with a great performance. he also has a much better chin that Cotto, and can box well.
It is an irrelevant comparison, however, as the fight took place 7 years ago. Floyd's has the misfortune of making his opponents look old, past their prime, and not nearly as good as they were hyped up to be. I expect the same will happen if he fights Manny or Cotto or Mosley.Comment

Will people ever get over this ****?
