I'm obviously not alone, and not only that, but some of the most respectable Hopkins fans on here agree with my first post in this thread.

It's exactly what I'm saying. Both were being overrated and it took a superior fighter to give them a one-sided beating to show the rest of the world what the deal is.

Not mad, btw, I just didn't understand why you brought up Lacy's resume, it has nothing to do with what I'm saying! The point was that we have two examples of the much better fighter as the underdog yet they were both completely dominant and shut a lot of mouths. I love it when that happens.
Fair enough. I just thought the Lacy-Calzaghe example was strange because of the quality of opposition. But I get you.

Totally agree... Wasn't Glen Johnson undefeated at that point and Hopkins is the first to ever knock him out right?

WTF? Who compared Pavlik to Lacy?

I compared what happened in those fights and said there are similarities, not in the fighters, but in the way they were dismantled when so many people had Hopkins and Calzaghe getting KO'd by these one-dimentional, overrated young fighters.

Yeah, correct. 32-0 at the time. He wasn't "knocked out" as in out cold, but it was stopped in the 11th. Great fight -- watch it if you can. Bernard was excellent. Very aggressive, smart, and throwing tons of punches. One of my favorite versions of Hopkins.
