Valero has a lot of potential, but he is far from being the best out there at the moment. He's highly ranked at Jnr Lightweight, but that's a very weak division now. He's unranked at Lightweight. He hasn't beaten anyone meaningful yet, and he looks wild and unschooled when he fights. Hopefully his new trainer will fix that, but that takes a bit of time, and fighting some contenders who can test him - you can't change someone's style overnight.
From the point of view of his own career, and realising his potential, he should fight a couple of contenders before fighting a JMM or a Pac; and beating a couple of contenders impressively in the US would also make fights with a JMM or a Pac much more lucrative, and more worth their while.
