James Toney + Dedication = a great fighter.
He got lazy and complacent, Freddy Roach called him the best technical fighter he'd trained.Comment

You're referring to the Vasily Jirov fight who, ironically, is one of the other three lol. Not sure about the rest though.Comment

James Toney has dedication, he doesn't have discipline. If he had that his entire career, he'd be a top 10 ATG.Comment

honestly, tony had the smarts and skill to be a HOF. Just imagine, right now, if he DID make 190 to fight Hopkins. If Toney won, that would probably spark an eating fest, but then it might spark a sense of thought, "Hey.. maybe if I get in better shape I can fight better opponents."
I don't think anyone wants him at heavyweight...
Just imagine him at 175 RIGHT NOW.

If Toney had PBF, Hopkins or SSM's work ethic I think he would've been a top 10 ATG. Even in the beginning of his career I think he would've actually been able to dominate 154lbs for a little bit and then naturally finished off between 160-168.
Would've cut weight for the RJJ fight the correct way and not just trying to do it in the sauna. Who knows how that would've changed the fight. However skill wise I don't think anyone comes close to him in those weight classes.Comment
