    James Toney + Dedication = ?

Just wondering how far you guys think Toney could have gone in boxing if his dedication to the sport and making weight in particular had been much better.

He was an extremely talented fighter, but damn was he lazy!

James Toney is a clown and always will be. He's always been lazy, even his fighting style.

all i can say is there is nothing i hate more about boxing, than a fighter coming into the ring fat. Its almost disrespectful to your opponent and to the fans..... james would have been a force if he was in shape, but he couldnt put the donuts down

True, true. I hate to see talent being wasted.

But I was asking how far could he have gone if he'd left the donuts alone, in terms of titles won, opponents beaten in your opinion etc.

in shape, he still loses to roy jones, but he beats most of the hw's he fought if not all...... if he were to stay at cruiser or light heavy, he would have hard fights against the likes of hopkins and haye..... but he would def. be a ballin ass fighter

Lazy? James Toney is one of four fighters to ever land over 400 punches in a bout. He's done it three times.

It's hard for me to see him ever beating a prime Jones but a dedicated Toney would've made a strong case for being the best fighter of his era.

I heard that statistic when watching one of Toney's fights the other night. Just wondering who all of the other three were and who they were fighting?

He definetely shouldn't have fought above Cruiser.

He would have had decent paydays against Haye and Macca, Mormeck etc. And he's the most gifted out of all of them.

I don't know if he would have beaten Jones but he definitely would have had a better legacy.
