All that tells me is that Roy was better before he met Bernard as well as after. I bet if you compare the next ten years after they fought, Roys resume would look ten times better.
Manchine is brilliant but I tried my best to overlook that post. I mean, the only really impressive win was the one over Wolfe who fought a good fight with Toney.

Beating a faded, former welterweight champ isn't that big a deal. Neither was beating Thomas...nor Jones' somewhat disappointing performance against a rugged but old Jorge Castro.

Maybe we should take a poll because I'm pretty certain anyone who watched Jones' career and saw that performance against Hops can see that, while he was damn good, he certainly had not blossomed into the fighter he would become. Unless, of course, Hopkins was so good that he made Jones look worse than he was .
I never said that Roy Jones was at his peak when he fought Hopkins because he wasn't.

My point is that at that stage of his career Jones was clearly the more experienced fighter of the two which I've proven.

And Hopkins did make Jones look worse than he was.

            I can live with that.

While Jones was certainly farther along than Hopkins...that's what made him better....than everyone. He's been doing it since he was about 4yrs old. Certainly not a knock on him. And Hopkins proved in that fight that even without similar experience, he belonged with the elite...and then didn't lose again for 12 years (TWELVE EFFIN YEARS!).

Jones' victory over Hopkins should not be underrated. I'm still waiting for someone to pull a similar feat in an equally convincing fashion.

This is exactly what I'm talking about.

I'm not trying to diminish Jones, I'm only saying it like it is.

Jones' resume before fighting Hopkins wasn't impressive and I never said it was but he was clearly fighting at a higher level of opposition than Hopkins at that stage.

but does it change the fact he was dominating everything till he hit 40?(which to you is his prime even tho it was when he started losing i mean wtf??)

I don't think Manchine is saying that all. However, it's obvious to everyone that Hopkins isn't the same fighter he was even five years ago.

Again I've never said that Hopkins is in his prime now.

He was not dominating until about 1996-1998 when he established himself as a worthy middleweight champion, perhaps the best there was at the time (which he later proved).
