Man oh man do I detest Joe's style. I can't stand that flailing of the arms and pity patting to make it look like he's puttin in good work.

Thyroid or not, the two Taylor fights give me grounds for believing a rematch wouldn't be so very different from the first fight, taking everything into account. The second fight was pretty similar to the first, even though both fighters improved a little and changed tactics a little. Some styles just don't suit Hopkins, others do. I think Hopkins would still be forced to clinch a great deal in a rematch, and that it would be another ugly fight that Calzaghe would win by a close decision.

And we'll have to agree to disagree on whether faking low blows is cheating, to me it is.

And if Calzaghe were to come back, all Calzaghe fans and most neutrals would want it to be against Dawson, because that would be a much more exciting fight. It's nothing to do with the 0, Dawson is at least as much of a risk. He's also more deserving, because he doesn't disrespect his opponents. You don't convince someone to give you a rematch by dissing them. Look at how long it took Vargas to get a fight with DLH because he disrespected him.
Calzaghe didn't underestimate Hopkins OK. It was the biggest fight of his life. Also how can you say Hopkins faked the low blows? How the **** would you know?

I made this a while ago thought it's not quite as good since Roy didn't land a punch. I guess nothing in his 25 + years of boxing could have prepared him for this onslaught of slaps.

You couldn't pay me 43.95 to watch this **** again. One of the most pathetic fights I've ever seen by both guys. I lost a **** ton of respect for both guys after this fight

That's what happens when you lunge forward flailing your arms around like a windmill. Plus, Hopkins didn't do anything really dirty in the fight so that wouldn't sum up the fight. Lots of clinching, yes, but Joe low-blowed several times (he even admits to this as "payback" for the knock down) as well as rabbit punches (see below).

This would be a great fight IMO.
Yes I blew me 50 bucks on the first one but im sure Hopkins would give this his all therefore land some shots on Calzaghe and leaving himself open to take some shots too...I really think this would be a war.
Joe would win this one too IMO...Hopkins would have to stop him IMO and he could do that if he fights like he did against Pavlik...but then again...Joe will fight back...its that whole ODLH Pac scenario over again.

No there isn't. A bunch of guys appreciate Hopkins and his skills, and his longevity and his hand picked opponents. But, they're not dying to watch him hug, I mean fight, again. He should just retire and go and continue to stick his nose in interviews that don't involve him.

Yeah, he's just pretending. Like how after the 5th round he started making the sweat fly from Hopkins' head from all the "slapping." And how his workrate of "flailing" tired Hopkins out so badly that he had fake a low blow to buy time.

Joe was under a ton of pressure, the kind he's never really faced before, and he got caught early. Then he simply outhustled the man to a victory. Hopkins was completely gassed at the end of the fight.

I'm an American who was pulling for he old man, but Joe won that fight, and he'd be even better in a rematch. Zaghe has nothing left to prove. He's the greatest ever at 168, and top ten from there to 175.
