Marquez walked through him, and knocked him out. Making Juan Manuel the true, lineal Champion at 135lbs.

Marquez then took on the #1 ranked challenger of 135lbs, in Diaz. Who was the top guy in the division who was not named Marquez. Younger, stronger, bigger, fresher, and Marquez knocked him out as well.
Let me clear things out for you.. Cassamayor in reality lost to Sta. Cruz.. On paper Cassamayor is lineal. Juan Diaz >>>>> Cassamayor... Nate Campbell>>>>>Diaz>>>>>>Sta. Cruz>>>>>>Cassamayor. Juan Diaz win gives Marquez a much much much greater argument for dis*****g Manny as no.1 than his victory againts an old Cassamayor that really lost to Sta. Cruz.

Jeez Bringer the way you're talking about Marquez leads me to believe that he's better than a prime B-Hop

Casamayor is only 2 years older than Marquez! Same with Calzaghe and Jones -- just a few years difference. Age shouldn't be such an important factor. The man in your avatar is a perfect example of this.

I agree that the KO of Diaz means more for Marquez than the KO of Casamayor.

But the KO of Casamayor for Marquez means more than the KO of David Diaz did for Pacquiao.

Argue all you want about Diaz beating Santa Cruz, who should've gotten the nod against Casamayor. But that's symantics. In the record books (where it really matters), Casamayor was the man to beat at 135lbs.

And just to clarify, I feel the same way about Pacquiao/Marquez. I can sit here and make as strong a case for Marquez beating Pacquiao in the rematch all I want. Some will agree with me, others won't. But it's a strawman, because where it really counts, in the record books, Pacquiao got the W in that one. However close it may have been.

Sta. Cruz very obviously beat him...I think he was at least close to shot.

i know that. My point is everybody is saying Morales, Barrera, DLH were SHOT when Pac fought them, and that he was fighting the old men, when they were champion.

Then Everybody says Marquez is Great because he beat casamayor who is past prime and older then Marquez..

                    It's bull****

I love me some Marquez almost as much as I love me some B-Hop. They're 2 of my top 10 favorite fighters of all time. Hopkins gets the nod over Juan though because A.) He's from my hometown, B.) He's the only fighter I've followed since I was 10 years old, and C.) His legacy is greater than Juan Manuel's.
