When was the last time Pacquiao did this?

Juan Diaz was highly regarded as the #1 challenger in his division.
Juan Diaz is also a natural Lightweight.
Juan Diaz is bigger and stronger than Juan Manuel Marquez.
Juan Diaz is 10 years younger than Juan Manuel Marquez.
Juan Diaz is in the prime of his career.

So when's the last time Pacquiao knocked out somebody like that?

      Good thread, very true
but Morales, Barrera, and JMM were three great wins even though they were all a bit past their best.

This isn't a thread to discredit Manny, although everybody knows I think Marquez is the better fighter.

Props to Manny for taking on Hatton, but I hope he stops cherry picking money fights and starts fighting some live competition.

Everybody knows Pacquiao is going to slaughter Ricky. It will be David Diaz like.

To be fair to Pacquaio, that's a trick question.

The guys who were considered the best in his division at the time, happened to be older.

Fight fans all predicted that he'd lose to De La Hoya, virtually anyway. So, it's safe to assume he didn't know how good he could be at the higher weights either. If we are to go off assumption, either assumption, that he didn't know how good he could be, if bigger, or that he did.... Both could be made. So, the bigger thing kind of gets thrown out the window, when he didn't know how far his body could go, no one really did at the time.

In terms of the prime thing, the last time that happened was David Diaz, who should have been bigger and might have been stronger (he didn't land, so we don't know.)

The best fighters at the weights Manny was at, at the time, were older, SLIGHTLY faded fighters. So, it's a trick question. Hell, if he'd had fought Casamayor, he'd of been an older, faded fighter. So, that argument loses merit.

No, you're reaching. Hatton is an older Champion, not a younger, fresher Challenger.

And I'm sure Marquez would jump up 2 divisions also if it meant he could get paid $20 million. But unfortunately, he doesn't have the luxury of being a gigantic money maker, so he has to fight real fights.
