Let's just face the facts, Joe Calzaghe was a great fighter who did not fight the fights that would make him an ATG. And if he is an ATG, he's on the bottom of that list. This whole "Calzaghe is the GOAT" crap I hear makes me think his fans never watched any other fighter.
That's the thing though, no one does claim Calzaghe the G.O.A.T., or even anywhere near it. He gets high praise from Brits as he is one of our greatest and his fights were always more readily available for us for we're more familiar with him, so we could follow and support him closer

I'm pretty sure most non-trolling Calzaghe fans on here would agree that he isn't exactly a Harry Greb or whatever - not that that's something you can hold against him

that's all well and good only he got less for the fight he DID take than he would have fighting Calzaghe.

Big difference.

Okay and a fight was signed with Hopkins in 2002? Please i need proof. And dont just keep posting that same ****ty thread which says that Hopkins kept changing his phone number to avoid Calzaghe. I'm not about to take this seriously.

And why would Hopkins wait till his 43ish before fighting Joe when he could have fought him when he was like 39ish? Really makes sense. He must be real scared.

Hey, when you really want the big fights, you bend over backwards for the champs/recognized stars, it's the nature of boxing. Anything less is just ************.

No excuse for at least Glen Johnson not ending up on his resume. Especially when Glen called him out after Jones (which is an awful fight to retire on) and had enough momentum behind him after Dawson to warrant a creditable challenge. Calzaghe just doesn't like that style match up I'm betting. I don't think he's confident in his ability to keep Johnson off him with his offense.

It would make more sense to name big fights he could have had at 175 AND 168. He supposed to be an ATG 7lbs north should be plenty doable for him.

                    1. Was elite level
                    2. Wanted a fight with Joe
                    3. Joe wanted to part of
You have to make them want you. You have to go out of your way if you want a big fight.

Its all good for Calzaghe to talk but if he REALLY wanted the fight he would have travelled to the US to try and push it through. But sadly he didnt.
