Why do people continue to bring up the Hopkins vs. Calzaghe stuff..... They fought in the end... Both are/were very good "old boxers" and we still got to see two elite, top 5 pound-for-pound, Hall Of Famers going at it

I agree, but people bring it up because they say "Calzaghe should have fought Hopkins before he was old.. he waited until Bernard was old!", so when you tell them about the deal that Hopkins pulled out of in 2002, they call you a clown. Genius!

Questions for Calzaghe fans: If someone like Roy Jones had a similar resume to Calzaghe in terms of fighters faced, what would you think of them? If Roy Jones instead of going up to heavyweight and fighting tough fights with Tarver and Johnson, instead chose to stay at one weight class and rack up defenses, would you be asking the same questions about Roy Jones that people ask about Calzaghe?

dude don't act like Jones' resume is the example all should follow. People DO ask those questions about Roy

fact is, elite fighters in general these days have weaker resumes in comparison to the old timers..... Politics, money, over-adundance of weight classes and titles etc. has made it infeasible to expect fighters to be retiring with Ray Robinson-esque records

Apparently he only got $3m for Pavlik (same price he agreed on to fight Joe). So I doubt he made that for Trinidad as he would've been taking the short end.

By saying he wanted the "crown ***els" he was saying that he would want a good payday, right? Is there something wrong with that? That doesn't mean he wouldnt have fought, it just means he'd want to make it worth his while because it was a risky fight. Pretty obvious.
