Explosive lifts do such as the clean & press, snatch, jerk etc. The deadlift builds power throughout the body.

LOL at this noob thinking a heavy bench = punching power.

heavy punchers are born not made by the way.

Punch power isn't related to how much you can bench and squat. If it were, lifting weights would be a lot more prevalent in boxing.

punching power is gained from the ground up..... being strong wont really do any thing but slow you down...... compare royjones and jeff lacy...

what you should be doing is throwing punches with a dumbell for starters, but as your technique grows, power will come...... it takes time tho.

Punching power can be obtained. But there's a limit as to how much power can be obtained through training. That's why the guy's right when he says punchers are born and not made. See, Tommy Hearns, Naseem Hamed etc

There are different types of strengths - maximal, explosive, speed, and strength endurance. You need a combination of all to maximize performance in boxing. Focusing too much on maximal strength such as benching will actually result in a in a loss of speed.
