The purse in itself should be significantly larger for Pavlik vs. Abraham than Pavlik vs. Bloody since the big german market will be into this fight as well.

Should AA want 50-50 or 45-55(Pav) I think he deserves it.

I agree with they lowball him, well he can just line up another contender and make a mint off it in Germany.

But I think both sides see the value and box office potential of this fight.

I am hoping late this year if each guy does their part in the interim.

Don't be an idiot, it just means most boxing experts think he's the #1 rated challenger for the middleweight crown - that's all it means no more and no less. However, it also means that if Pavlik won't fight him, it's because he doesn't think he can win.

Abraham also destroyed Miranda in their rematch far more easily than Pavlik or anyone else has done, which is maybe what got Pavlik's team so scared.
I am an idiot? But, somehow you can read minds and got it all figured out that Pavlik is running scared. Talk about an idiotic statement. So, come on mind reader fill us in on why Arthur, who has been a belt holder a lot longer then Pavlik, has not fought one unification fight in his eight defenses since 2005. Was he also running scared? Why not fight Sturm instead some fighter named Lajuan Simon? And by the way Simon is not even rated in the top ten by the IBF let alone by anyone else. So I have to ask, is it alright that AA fights a bum but not alright that Pavlik fights a top ten fighter in Rubio? I have to admit I find that reasoning rather bizarre. Now back on track. If AA fought Sturm it would be the first step to unification. It would also be one hell of a fight in Germany and make both of them plenty of money. Or is Sturm also afraid of big bad Arthur? I only ask because somehow you have the ability to be inside Pavlik's head so I figured you have the power to know everything.

Okay, it's Arum's who's running scared, I admit I can't read Pavlik's mind, but Pavlik should stand up to Arum, IMO, and say he wants to fight the best fighters. This sort of thing is what is killing boxing. As for Abraham-Sturm, Sturm's camp seems to be pricing him out of it - see here. That's also bad. But if Pavlik fights Duddy, hopefully Strum-Abraham can be made now. Okay "idiot" was a bit too strong, but I thought that walk on water comment was ridiculous - no-one here has claimed Abraham is an all time great or anything like that, but he's by far the most meaningful opponent for Pavlik right now, and it's appalling that Pavlik's camp should not even be trying to make it happen.

          • It has always been PRIZE fighting

Banking the biggest check should always be the first consideration when making a fight. The most compelling fight will always generate the biggest payday. If Abraham wants Pavlik all he has to do is whoop a respectable middleweight in front of an American Audience and demand will materialize.

Miranda was a far more respectable middleweight than Duddy is. And the most compelling fight does not usually generate the biggest payday, if it did boxing would still be the mainstream sport it used to be. De La Hoya vs. anyone generated more than anyone else vs. anyone else long after DLH stopped being a P4P-rated fighter. Hatton vs. anyone generates more than almost all other fights do because of Hatton's personality and sense of humour, not because he's the best fighter on the planet.

But when the best fighters avoid each other consistently for long enough, boxing eventually loses its appeal as a mainstream sport. In fact with your philosophy it couldn't be called a sport at all, only a business. There has to be a balance between the sport and business aspects, and the balance has gone awry in recent years.

Yet when Kessler or someone do the same, it's we know it's Mikkels choice, he's a wimp, he needs to face better competition, whose he beaten, he wouldn't even fight a top guy if he had the chance

Sorry but the assumptions about the fighters behind the scenes always seem favourable to some, yet very critical of others.
exactly.and many fans like to give sturm hard time 'cause his competition, but he fought 3 times last year, and two of them we're the rings' top10 fighters

This is bull****, Pavlik and Abraham want to fight each other. Hopkins put the fear of god in Arum, Bob doesn't want to gamble with Kelly apparently.
This is exactly whats going on. But I don't think theyre's anybody in the middleweight division that has anything near Hopkins' boxing skill, so I don't think there's anything to be scared of.
