Thats why he aint beaten any prime legends.
To be fair, how many of today's fighters can you count who have beaten a prime legend. I'm interested to know.

Jones should have fought him in 2000 when the offer was there. And Hopkins in 2002. Such a shame these fights didn't come off.

"A teleconference was set up in my office in New York for July 30th, 2002, and on the call was myself, Don King who was in the room, Frank Warren and Bernard Hopkins' lawyer, Arnold Joseph. Along with Arnold was a woman named Linda Carter, who was there on behalf of Bernard. We asked Arnold if Bernard wanted to fight Joe Calzaghe and we asked him how much money would he want if he did. The response we got was $3million and the fight would have to take place in the United States. After a little scratching of the head, we said 'Okay, done.' Frank Warren agreed on the spot, Don King agreed and we agreed so as far as we were concerned all parties were singing off the one hymn sheet. Arnold excused himself with Linda and I can only assume it was to call Bernard. Either that day or the next day, they came with a new demand: $6million, double the sum that had been agreed, the deal blew up.....he had then and still has no desire to fight Joe Calzaghe, that much is pretty clear. Joe gets criticized sometimes for not having fought the big-name Americans, but in this case the fault has never rested with him." - Jay Larkin
    (2000)

"I am the best super-middleweight in the world and I am out to prove that I am the best fighter on the planet. If Jones disagrees, lets get it on," he said.

"Jones is supposed to be the best fighter in the world at the moment. A showdown between us has got to happen to prove who is the best."

Frank Warren, Calzaghe's promoter, is trying to finalize a deal with Jones' promoter Murad Muhammed and is talking to the WBO to make the fight happen.

"Roy says he has difficulty in finding opponents but he has Joe Calzaghe - the best fighter in the division - waiting to fight him and ready to put his title on the line. "I am close to making the fight happen and when it does we will see who is the best in the world," said Warren.

I guess no one was interested in answering the question:

How many of today's fighters can you count who have beaten a prime legend.

Jay Larkin is Frank Warrens American representative you tool. Calzaghe was a nobody in 2002 and should have come to America. What you think Hopkins is going to give up his middleweight belts to fight a NOBODY?

Why would he have to give up his belts? Joe Calzaghe would not have gone to middleweight anyway. Hopkins would retain his belts. It could have been a catch-weight or 168 easily.

You might be able to take a guess what I'm currently doing with them. Maybe you'll end up in the same place as your good friends...

Quick question... should Tarver actually beat Dawson (which isn't beyond the realms of possibility), are we going to have to endure a barrage of "Calzaghe needed to beat Tarver to be #1" and "Calzaghe ducked Tarver" posts?

Are you kidding me? Calslappy wanted NO part of Tarver after he KTFO Roy Jones. Joe's father would have had to drag him into the ring to fight Tarver like he almost had to do with Lacy because Calzaghe was scared of the hype proving how gay he is. Thanks I needed a good laugh.
