calzaghe retired without giving hopkins his rematch, he aint no hall of famer. HBO needs to stop putting that label on just anybody, yea hes unbeaten, but only 2 fights in america versus old legends, and the bhop fight was a toss up,everybody knows to be called one of the greats you have to be great in the USA,where the best boxers of all time are from.

he was a talented fighter no doubt, his workrate is superb but a HOF,thats stretching it a bit

Well at least he isn't accusing Calzaghe of ducking him, also he is acknowledging Calzaghe by saying NOW im the king, as if joe was before.

Since when is that the barometer of if someone is a HOF candidate?

And Dawson was claiming to be king before Calzaghe retired, saying that the Ring belt doesn't mean anything.
hopkins doesnt want to fight him. Kessler's management declined a fight with Dawson stating "Dawson is a Cruiserweight squeezing into LHW".

Why do you think Kessler's having issues with his management? They aren't getting him the fights he wants. They're ****en up his career.

            Xenophobic nonsense.

Note that not only Dawson, but also Jermain Taylor, have shown true class when paying their respects to Calzaghe's career, unlike you.

firstly nice comments by chad, its refreshing to see some honesty in the sport, too often we have fighters like froch who win a belt and suddenly start flapping their mouth.

as for dawson vs zaghe i see calzaghe outworking and outsmarting him but alas we will never know. i still maintain that if dawson had taken on and beaten hopkins then there was a 50/50 chance of the fight with zaghe being made.

as for dawson vs hopkins at first i thought hopkins would be too smart for him, throw in the fact that dawson doesn't have the strongest of chins and hopkins does well against southpaws and i thought that if they did meet bernard would take the decision. i still wouldn't count out bernard taking on dawson, he might well have been waiting for zahe to retire before assuming the no.1 position at LHW.

however his recent comments about him not wanting to fight dason because hes a young american are just BS. imo its quite blatant duck.

can dawson actually make 170, i know that a fight between him and kess will likely happen, kess is about 30 now and in about 3/4 years he will be too big for 168. the reason why i think he wants to stay there is because he realizes that with the exception of dawson and johnson they are no big fights there. at 168 he has the likes of froch, larsen (a big fight in denmark), bute (in a few years anyway), taylor maybe even the likes of jean pascal and bika.

anyways like i sid at the start, smart comments from dawson, all the best to him.

Very nice words by Dawson, nothing but respect. I'm looking forward to the Dawson Era he talks about, boxing needs another long-term undisputed champion.

Chad didn't write that LOL... you see that a lot...fighters supposedly writing these challenger, statements, letters etc...and it is clear to me that 99 pct. of the time they didn't write them. I'll never understand that

                    calzaghe fan on dawson

im a calzaghe fan and i have the upmost respect for dawson, true i think calzaghe would have found way to beat him but also Dawson is a man on the way up and he may well become the king but i think you got to agree he has yet to earn that crown, he was the best challenge out there apart from a kessler rematch who in my opinion gave calzaghe his toughest test bu it also shows the lack of big options, i wish dawson all the best and he could well beat joes record but he wants to retire at 30 so might not make it to 46, best of luck to him though the real king now in and around that division has to be kessler but yeah he too needs to get stateside and get some big names
