Whitaker was the better body puncher and had much better upperbody movement. He also had the better jab...you can't decide a winner based off on this. Yes I've seen some fights where Whitaker wasn't in his best condition but against someone like Floyd...best believe he will be

What makes you think Mayweather is the stronger fighter? Strength has nothing to do with the amount of knockouts you have.

Whitaker wasn't a huge puncher, but he was certainly a strong fighter. This was one of the (many) reasons he was so good on the inside. He rarely got bullied around on the inside or in clinches.

He had HUGE legs. He generated a lot of strength from those legs.

Not the best pic I know, but you can clearly see what I'm talking about. Pernell wasn't really ripped, but he was a lot more solid than he seemed. He was able to muscle Welterweights around the ring, if not standing his ground.

        Classic example.

I think Whitaker would beat him clearly myself. Mayweather Snr has already stressed ealier in Floyd's career that he is not comfortable fighting Southpaw's and i think we saw that in his fight with Judah where he he got outboxed for 5 rounds. Corley even managed to buzz him.

Pernell would have Mayweather x2 on his resume if he had fought Floyd too.
Whitaker is a legend in the sport boxing, and honestly who cares if He could beat Floyd, The point is that Floyd is The greatest of his era, and Whitaker was one of the greatest of his.
The thing that Floyd has over Pernel is Technical boxing skill.
And Pernel had better Natural Reflexes.
But would win? I dont know, but does it matter?

You mean smarter. It is just like B-Hop and Pavlik...Pavlik is the stronger guy but B-Hop knows alot more when fighting on the inside. Reason why he gave DLH, and Trinindad alot of problems on the inside (even though he was well past it) He was also beating JCC on the inside... So I'm not saying he is weak just that he ain't as strong as Floyd

I have Sweet peas entire career geniuos!!!!!!!!!!!

The fact that they were almost equal on hand speed, but Whitaker was faster with his feet and upperbody movement, make him faster than Mayweather. Whitaker stood for a couple of rounds toe to toe with Trinidad, and even hurt Trinidad in the 7th round. That for me is prove enough, of Whitaker being stronger!!!!!!!!!!

Pavlik stronger than Nard? Nah. Nard is a strong mother****er....have you seen the guy maul people in his earlier days? He's a fitness freak in addition to just being naturally physically strong. Where did you come up with that one?

I seen B-Hop against Mercado, Echols, Johnson, Allen and yes he was damn strong but at 44...we can't possible say he is stronger then Pavlik.

I agree, defense and counter punching goes hand in hand and I've also seen ALOT of times where Whitaker would dodge a 6-7 punch combination and not throw back....then again, he was just havin fun. You should watch Whitaker against Santos Cardona, Roger Mayweather, Azumah Nelson, JCC...

I know Cardona isn't a big name...but that right there is one of my favorite Whitaker fights...2nd to Whitaker vs JLR 2 (Note he got badly robbed in the 1st fight, where I felt JLR didn't win a round)
If you feel Ramirez didn't win a round in the first fight, you are an idiot. Either way, Whitaker beats Floyd pretty handily.
