This was a cop-out on Manny's part. He knows he will get no more money in any fight than this even with a 60-40 split on Hatton's favor. This had to be a way to A) hype the fight. Or B) get out of the fight because Manny doesn't want to face Hatton. I'm not saying that MP is scared of Ricky but he sure makes it seem as though he is sometimes.

so he moved up from 135 to 147 to face dlh, he thinks he can be margarito, but he's scared tp fight hatton?

dude wants 55-45......team hatton should call his bluff, then we'll find out if he's "scared"

If Hatton really wanted this fight then Hatton camp should just agree to Manny's liking. Eventually Hatton will be on the same level as Manny and he could do the same thing if he ever reaches that level. There is nothing we could do about it as boxing fans. Money (Manny) talks in PROFESSIONAL boxing nowadays. Boxers are paid based on their performance as boxers with the exception if they are screwed up and exploited by their handlers and promoters. Arum assumed that what he says to Manny will be acceptable. Not anymore. He is no longer too naive as before, thus he now sets his price. I hope he sticks to it coz he deserves it.

Welterweight title, that comparison with Henry Armstrong would become meaningful. People who say Pacquiao had nothing to gain in terms of legacy from this fight are just wrong.

Plus boxing needs its big stars to make the big fights everyone wants to see. Their failure to do so is a big factor in what changed boxing from a mainstream sport into a niche sport.
Like I said he does not have to. He attained his lifetime goal more than he expected and it his prerogative to elevate his status further. However, he should not be criticized on what he wanted to do. He has shown more than enough to the boxing fans and should fans insist that he should fight Hatton then he should be paid accordingly as a star.

Regardless of who you side with or who you pick, the only people that get fcucked over and cheated out of seeing what they want is us,the fans.

Gutted...big fan of both these fighters, really wanted to see this fight.
Cant see why Pacquiao didnt take 52-48, he will get a bigger split if he fights Valero, but that fight wont generate anywhere near the amount Hatton - Pacquiao will.
