He could just have told Arum he's not willing to fight before June, end of story. Instead, he made it about purse share. I simply can't buy your theory at all, I think it was about misguided feelings of wanting to be shown the respect he believes he deserves. But that's extremely ironic, because in the negotiations he disrespected Hatton, he disrespected his own promoter, and he disrespected his own trainer. That's not how you earn respect, and IMO, he has lost a huge amount of respect as a direct result of wanting more respect.

That's right mate. Hatton (as a brit) has class and tried to make the deal fair. It was manny who somehow believed he could bring in more people than Hatton. It is a fact that the fights manny was in were sold because of the mexican fighters, not him. Hatton is a huge draw in UK, I don't believe manny can get as much as him. The UK fans DO bring in more money. You can't compare my beautiful UK to "the philipines."

You are not a boxing fan. That attitude is what is killing boxing.

Pac probably feels he is taking the bigger risk going at 140, and probably feels he should take more of the purse because of it.

That sort of cultural supremacist nonsense, bordering on racism, is not welcome here. Please don't post that sort of stuff here again.

I'm guessing you're a hormonal teenager by the way you type. In what way are the Brits 'fake', 'lying' or 'cheating'? They are drunk, that's for sure, but the rest was just brain dribble wasn't it?

i am a bit torn......i do feel manny definitely deserves a bigger slice, but at the same time, i can't deny the fact ricky brings a lot of fans and money to the table too. the 52-48 was fair IMO, but if BOTH parties are serious about putting this thing through, it'll get resolved somewhere betw. 52-48 and 55-45. if not, we miss out on a good fight, they miss out on a lot of $$$.

This is a boxing forum and not a place to compare two countries. It is not the place that makes a country beautiful but its people. If you think your country is beautiful then act like one. Be educated and smart enough to limit your comment to boxing rather than bragging about your country.

Going back to boxing.. If Hatton has a huge draw in UK.. then so be it. Manny could say that too. However, Manny has a bigger draw in the United States than Hatton IMHO. He has proven that he is an exciting and explosive fighter and on his way to the Hall of Fame because of his accomplishments. He has attained more than what he expected. What good will it do for him to fight Hatton except for the boxing fans? Prove what? Hatton is in dire need to fight Manny to lift his status worldwide and not only in UK as you brag about. Of course Manny wants to fight still because he likes to be paid his worth while pleasing his worldwide fans. But he does not have to.

Apart from the money, it would give him the undisputed lineal title in another weight class. People were comparing him inappropriately with Henry Armstrong after he beat DLH, but if he beat Hatton and won the undisputed lineal Jnr. Welterweight title, that comparison with Henry Armstrong would become meaningful. People who say Pacquiao had nothing to gain in terms of legacy from this fight are just wrong.

Plus boxing needs its big stars to make the big fights everyone wants to see. Their failure to do so is a big factor in what changed boxing from a mainstream sport into a niche sport.
