also, while I belittle Jones' win over Hopkins, he has some underrated wins, like Eric Harding, Richard Hall, and Jorge Fernando Castro.
    not to mention malinga...

if u go back to 98 and look at the LHW top 10... roy fought 7-8 of them

There is no comparison between the McCallum that Toney fought and the one that Roy fought. big difference there.

the Reggie Johnson that Roy fought was actually still a very good fighter...I remember reading that he gave hell and dropped Antonio Tarver a year or so after Roy beat him...not to mention that he was an alphabet champ at the time.
but overall, I think its safe to say that Reggie was a better fighter when Toney fought him.

but am. and pro are two different beasts... roy had one more pro fight than bhpo.. and roy got a lot better after the bernard fight just as bernard did
Ive also heard that Roy fought most of the fight with a broken hand, which is notable.

but still, overall the Hopkins that Roy fought wasnt all that great. it took him quite a few more years before he started entering his prime.

Maybe I'm misinterpeting this whole thing but I thought this was about who has the more experience based on their resume.....meaning number of fights, quality of opposition, at what weight class and so on. Clearly Toney has put more rounds in the boxing ring with top fighters at a wider range of weight classes than Roy....hence he has the better, longer, more diverse resume. Basically what would Roys record be if he fought all of Toneys opponents at those weights? Certainly not 71-6 if you ask me.

                  Roy - Bhop,Toney,Griffin,Hill,Reggie,McCallum,Ruiz,Tarve r(close)
Toney - Nunn (come from behind KO),Reggie(close fight),McCallum(close fight),Jirov(close),Holyfeild,Ruiz,Rahman, Arguably Peters...

Its a close call, but Roy dominated all his fights in his prime, including Toney himself...
Title or not Reggie wasn't the same fighter as before, 175 was a very weak division. McCallum was done. Thats why neither were added.

Griffin had a win over Roy too thats why i did not add him. Regardless of it being a DQ win The fight was in the balance when it was stopped so it is a legit loss. I have to say the second fight was impressive from Roy though so for arguments sake we could add Griffin to Roys wins as a good one.

Malinga was a poor champion bud, nowhere near a top level fighter. His signature win was over a shot to bits Nigel Benn who had clearly beat him years before that.

He was never blown out though, never stopped... im not touting Malinga as a "great" fighter... but he was a very good fighter, and could hold his own in the ring.... and roy completely smashed him.
