Well Roy beat Toney so he will always be remembered as the BETTER fighter... in Terms of quality of opposition i think it is close, but Roys resume is pretty underrated IMO..

    Roy - Bhop,Toney,McCallum,Ruiz,Tarver
    Toney - Nunn,McCallum,Jirov,Ruiz,Holyfeild

Roy's fights against McCallum and Hopkins dont mean that much. McCallum was pretty old at that point, and Toney beat that old man version of him anyway I think.
Hopkins was still very green at that point...I consider the Nunn and the younger McCallum that Toney fought to both be better fighters than that version of Hopkins.

Tarver is a pretty good win. its about equal to the Jirov one, because after all Jirov is a weight class bigger than Tarver. I think he was undefeated at that point too.

people seem to forget, but Im pretty sure Sam Peter was a top 3 heavyweight at the time Toney fought him.

Samuel Peter got a title shot after his win over Toney in the rematch, so he had to be up there in the top 3!

still to this day, jones victory over Hopkins (green or therwise) has been Hopkins only clear defeat.

I have to agree. I mean Roy will be remembered as the more successful of the two but obviously Toney fought more credible opponents.

Roys resume is verry underrated.. if your gonna include gys like reggie and mcCallum in Toney's resume then why not Roys? he pitched shutouts against both guys, and yes McCallm was past it but Reggie was a 175 champ at the time Roy beat him...

                  Roy - Bhop,Toney,Griffin,Hill,Reggie,McCallum,Ruiz,Tarve r(close)
Toney - Nunn (come from behind KO),Reggie(close fight),McCallum(close fight),Jirov(close),Holyfeild,Ruiz,Rahman, Arguably Peters...

Its a close call, but Roy dominated all his fights in his prime, including Toney himself...

right, and I agree. although admittedly the loses to griffin are widely considered robberies, he had some emabrressing losses to Drake Thadzi and Dave Tiberi I think they were. I dont really count losses against fighters that much, but at the same time you cant just ignore it.

also, while I belittle Jones' win over Hopkins, he has some underrated wins, like Eric Harding, Richard Hall, and Jorge Fernando Castro.

roy had 22 pro fights when he fought bhop... did he have a more extensive am. career? yes...

but am. and pro are two different beasts... roy had one more pro fight than bhpo.. and roy got a lot better after the bernard fight just as bernard did
