The reason he gets so much hate, because no matter who he beats, he was expected to do so, and there will always be someone that he hasn't fought.
The reason why I think he's being hated on so much is by the inescapable allegations that he is "running away" from stiff competition in the "Prime" of his career. Once again, the poor timing of his retirement has contributed to all this backlash and major discontent for him. JAT

I personally don't think he's retired for good yet, I'm guessing we'll see Floyd fight 2-3 more times.

I think Floyd will fight Pacquiao in 2009 assuming that he pulls through the Hatton fight.

If a Welterweight emerges as the undisputed king of the division, we might see Floyd fight whoever that is (whether it be Cotto, Williams, Margarito, whoever) sometime in 2010.

Then I envision Floyd retiring again for a couple years only to pull a Sugar Ray Leonard and come back in 2012 and fight whoever the Middleweight champion is at that time, for his final fairwell fight.

He could very well, when it's all said and done retire 42-0, undefeated with names like: Pacquiao, Cotto and Pavlik added to his already impressive resume. Not to mention a champion in 6 different weight divisions.

Floyd is still relatively young. He just needs to spark that passion for boxing again, and I'm pretty sure he will. I don't think Floyd has the tolerence nor the humility to let someone get the attention that he got. Now that Pacquiao is getting all the fame and recognition, Floyd feels that Manny is sort of impeding on his territory, and already seems interested in a return.

The Ring's titles are all you need to pay attention to. I'm a firm believer that their champions are the only true champions

                Thats exactly the point dummy.

Floyd has never been a commander in chief when it came to money. Before DLH gave him a chance at stardom, Floyd was like everyone else on the scene. Notice how I said DLH gave him a chance?

Where would Floyd be without the help of others?

And he has the audacity to turn his back on the boxing community by refusing matches that would be, great for the sport, make him some money, and give another fighter a chance at stardom.

DLH could have easily told Floyd the same thing, "you can't even grab a 500,000 PPV, why should I fight you?"

DLH never needed to piggyback off any other fighter, he created his own star.

Floyd just wants to act like he did.

I could see if he defeated at least 2 of the best welters, but he wouldn't even face 1.

You said Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather Wasnt Impressive at Welterweight, but both were champions..!!!

Ricky Hatton was a WBA welter Weight Champion am I wrong???

I didnt know you had to look impressive in winning a championship belt in order to be taken seriously as a champion...

I thought if you beat the champion for his belt then you are a champion???

By that Standard how many champions can we say are not real champions because they didnt look impressive when they won their belts???

You say Ricky Hatton is a Junior Welterweight because he fought most of his career there...

But Floyd has had 39 Fights in which 31 fights were at 135 and under.
Only 8 Fights were at 140 and up.

Ricky Hatton had more fights at 140 AND UP then Floyd did...

Both Floyd and Ricky Hatton were Welter Weight Champions.
                    Floyd started at 130
                    Ricky Started at 140

According to you Floyd and Ricky Hatton never fought any good welterweight champions.

So that leads to the Conclusion that Floyd's Run at Welterweight just like Ricky Hatton's wasnt impressive....Because they never fought anybody....

So If Floyd wasnt a impressive welterweight champion because he never fought any good welterweights....

What does a Floyd win at welterweight mean if he wasnt impressive at welterweight???

Just like you want to discredit Floyd win over Ricky Hatton because he wasnt impressive at welterweight....and a junior welter weight because he fought most of his career there....

Well Floyd fought most of his career at 135 and under...

So What does a Floyd win mean if he wasnt impressive at welterweight because he is really a light weight since he spent most of his career there???
