The best welters made Floyd lose his desire to fight.
Maybe his whole life day in day out devoted to boxing made Floyd loose his desire for the daily grind especially once he had attained all the fame and fortune that he has , its all so easy to sit where you sit and say Floyd should do this or that it would not be easy to be at his level and to stay as focused as he would need to be to compete against champions that a much bigger than him , Floyd is probably burned out emotionally from a life of boxing , like Marvin Hagler said its not easy to climb out of silk sheets to do roadwork .

The real problem I see with Mayweather is the poor timing of his retirement. I see a lot of talented guys that Mayweather in his "Prime" should be in a bout with in order to prove his self-proclamation of greatness. The allegations of the TalkBoxing guy claims that Mayweather is "ducking and avoiding" these talented opponents in an effort to keep his unbeaten record intact has reinforced my questioning of Floyd's true intentions of his retirement. Was it an act to save himself from impending defeat from the current stiff competition? Only he knows the truth behind that.

Mayweather says he has nothing more to prove but many fans don't see it that way. I for one would not even consider the Pacman an ATG if I found out that he's "ducking and avoiding" tough competition. JAT

Do not worry, there is no base on why Pacman should fight him, last facts,he was supposed to fight Nate Cambell, but he was overweight,Nate decided to fight him anyway and he still backed out,no reason for Pacman to worry about him!!

You can continue living in dream land this way.

If Floyd was a real fighter, and you, a true fan.. You would not be making excuses and Floyd would have fought Not just Cotto but Margarito and Mosley too.

Hypocrites woul dbe the first bitching if Cotto retired after beating Shane to stay "undefeated." BS... FLoyd is 30!!! It's not like is 38... He is afraid to lose and that is the real story here. He knows his limits and you huggers have yet to realize this.

how can u even say that these guys were the best when may was active? cotto was comming up, marg was comming off a loss, the only hot shot was hatton. he was already the man at the time, and he was talking ****... period....

i wouldve loved to see floyd kick cottos ass, but i dont knock him for his decison...... i think hes proved his point, seeing ass boxrec has him ranked as the #1 super featherweight of all time!
