By the way, unless Marquez has 2 or 3 more big wins and beats Pacquiao he's no legend. He will never be better then Morales or Barrera.

If you're serious, this is a typical Marquez fan response.

I agree Diaz himself doesnt make him a legend, but he is taking on nothing but the toughest fights availiable at that time and hasn't been beat convincingly. If that doesn't make a legend then I don't know what does. It's alot more then you can say about alot of other "ATG's"
ohhh ok, i understand you now.

you think he didn't beat Chris John?

and the Pacman fight is very arguable

there is more to a fighter's career than what boxrec dictates

imo he only lost to Norwood (and still gave a good account of himself) and that first guy who he was DQ'd against (i don't know the circumstances so i can't say whether that was deserved or not)

you're not helping the argument FOR marquez....despite what many of you feel, claiming 3 non-wins as the greatest achievements would make some drop juan lower on the 'legend' list

i'm far from saying they are the only moments of any note in his career

i'm just saying one is a good win he was robbed of, and one is an amazing performance and arguable victory against an ATG, and one is a draw and another amazing performance against that same ATG

you saying he gets no points for these fights?

20 years from now, no one's going to remember him fighting John. They're just going to see that he lost. I'm not passing any judgement on him getting robbed or not, I'm just saying that we can't talk coulda, shoulda, woulda, we're not Calzaghe fans are we?

neither did i...it was YOU that claimed them as his biggest wins...when you want to make an argument for someone's claim to legendary status, it just isnt solid when you describe his best wins with 'woulda, shoulda, coulda'

of course he gets points for those bouts...they took place, he looked good...but if he truly is 'legendary' you need to be able to have points B and C and sometimes D to back up your argument...

take away john and pacquiao, do you still have a base for his 'legend' claims?
