Calzaghe exploits the punch count rules, but his stamina is amazing and his ability to impose his will on opponents should not be overlooked. After watching the fight with Hopkins is looked pretty clear that if Hopkins had better stamina (pre-'05) he'd have beaten Calzaghe. But Calzaghe has beaten Lacy, Bika, Kessler, Hopkins and Jones all in a row.
I don't think he's necessarily one of the greatest of all time, but he's only a notch or so below that if anything. I don't like the way he play patty cake instead of really throwing punches, but he's effective. And he would have been effective in any era.
