Most come away fighting Hopkins and thinking that. But Calzaghe can't.

Most people, fans press and Pavlik himself underestimated Hopkins in that fight and should come away the wiser knowing he really is a force, which he keeps on prooving to peoples surprise. I think too much is being made of Joes performance and what he said. There's boxers saying far worse, in fact Pavlik post fight saying he just couldn't get off when he was clearly just outclassed. That was the worst bull **** I'd ever heard and I like the guy. Don't hear so much grief about that, and that's far worse, and but one example.
Yeah, but you can "not be able to get off" because of being outclassed. Pavlik did say after the fight that he was taught a lesson, which he was.

Basically, there is no way in hell Joe underestimated Hopkins. It just doesn't make any sense. You don't go over a decade undefeated by underestimating fighters, particularly multiple division, ATG ring champions.

You can still slightly under estimate them, especially at that age. Call Calzaghe ******, arrogant, foolish, naive or whatever I would agree and greatly criticise Calzaghe there really I would. But I don't think there's much reason to disbelieve such a menial comment as I underestimated him a bit. Like I say most came away thinking that really, so I don't see why it's so different for Calzaghe.

Why can't we just admit Joe was ****** in not preparing tactically enough, didn't protect from right counters from Hopkins enough, was still surprised by this guys strength, skills and speed at 43. It's a compliment to Hopkins really that he was even better than anticipated, something again most keep realising even us as fans.

Thats fine, I see what you are saying, I just don't buy it. It was a tough fight and he struggled to be effective, sure, but that is a common feature in Hopkins fight. Just because he struggled doesn't necessarily mean he underestimated him. The man is just that hard to fight and look good against.

He told Boxing News: "I just wasn't up for the Hopkins fight, I can't really explain it. That's why I walked into that shot of his in the first round and went down.

“If I beat Jones, I might move back down to super middleweight to face Kelly Pavlik. I still feel young," Calzaghe told Ron Lewis. "It all depends on how I perform against Jones. There's a good possibility I may fight on. I need fights that motivate me. Kessler motivated me, Hopkins motivated me, Jones motivates me. And Kelly Pavlik has been hanging around.”

"At the end of the day, from about the fourth round on, it just wasn't a hard fight at all."

LOL. I knew he'd have to get one in there somewhere.

So what was it? Was he motivated before the fight, but then just wasn't switched on when the fight came around? It's hard to tell from those comments.

Does nobody else see the headbutt at the end of the round too? There's a gif of this part floating around, and contrary to what the commentary is saying, Bernard hits JC with a headbutt, it's pretty clear to see. I don't think the fact that he nearly went down (or stumbled, at least) was the effect of a clean right hand so much as it was a combination of the headbutt and being a little off balance, so these things tend to get blown a little out of proportion.

Yes though. That part looks like ****ty fighting from Joe! Total garbage.

@ Kris: Do you have any idea of the state of JC's hands in this fight? Were they smashed or what? I'm just comparing the way he punched in the Jones fight to how he punched here. Did he ever let on that he was injured or anything, cause to me it looks like he's trying hard to protect them.
lol are you serious?? OH GOD...These calzaghe nutt huggers boy this is exactly wat i was talking about frko my man lol..How is it not a perfect example of the fight? Calzaghe throws a 10 slap combo the crowd ooos and awws..HOpkins throws 3 punches and lands a flush shot that almost sends calzaghe into oblivion..But you say the headbutt did that? LMFAO! CAlzaghe was still slapping after the headbutt! POINT BEING..Calzaghe gets the Win on points Hopkins wins the fight, why there hasn't been a rematch yet? BEATS ME!

No decisive winner in that fight. But officially Hopkins lost and as a Hopkins fan I can accept it, even tho it sucks.

In the last few months, he's had Kessler, Dawson and Ortiz in his avatar.

So who precisely is he racist against?

God, Tunney has brainwashed the lot of you. If someone is white and doesn't like both the Klits and Calzaghe, they're a self-loathing *****

                    Only on the internet, folks.

Honestly, I am done defending myself against these bull**** racist calls. They are just nonsense. I feel like 1/3 of my posts are taken up with trying to tell ppl that I am not a racist.

                      So yeah, go *** yourself.
