Disapointed in Hopkins fans for refusing to admitt their man lost.

I'm a B-Hop and joe fan I had it 115-112 Joe. Past the 4th round I just didn't see Hopkins even throwing punches he was clinching atleast Joe was trying to win. Hopkins caught a break when he was "low blowed" and might have won that round. It was a horrible fight and I don't really want to sit through it againComment

I don't think it's fair to say that Joe clearly won. He didn't, but he did throw more. However those punches weren't landing and the ones that were, were normally not that good. There were some very good straight lefts and jabs from Joe, but Hopkins landed some very nice counters and landed shots in the clinch that should count.
I don't have a problem with people scoring it for Calzaghe, but I don't think anyone can say he clearly won.Comment

I'd like to ask you to watch round 7 and 8 again if you will?
No way Hopkins won round 8, gave 7 to Calzaghe too.

I'd say Calzaghe won... but, I think a Hopkins scorecard is justified as well.The_Bringer, Precision, warp.
The fight was very close but I urge all three of you to watch it again. The rounds were close but Calzaghe definitely won the fight by a good few rounds just by outworking Hopkins.
I know Hopkins is your boy but it's time to swallow your pride and admitt he lost like many of the Hopkins fans have.

In ANY fight that doesn't end in a KO or TKO... there will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be someone who disagrees with the decision!
Judges are human, and they have styles that they like better than others. I hear some people say Wlad is boring... I think he's exciting. I hear others say B-Hop is exciting. I stopped watching him fight after the second Taylor fight because he was boring to me. Judges are not machines, they are human and as humans they will score a fight according to who they think is fighting the better fight via THEIR opinions! Not every decision in boxing is the result of crooked or paid-off judges.
Ask Yoel Judah, and he will tell you that Zab has never lost a fight! Did Bernard win the fight? Anyone and everyone with a internet connection can jump over to Boxrec and see that NO NO NO... Bernard did not win the fight!
One more time... lets all take a deep breath and say this together.... are we ready? Bernard lost to Joe Calzaghe. See, that feels better doesn't it. Like a weight has been lifted... now the whole world is in front of you... you can accomplish ANYTHING... you are the captain of your soul!Comment

It was actually Round 7 that was the swing round. Round 8 was clearly Hopkins and Round 7 was Hopkins too imo.
Round 7 you have a good case for Calzaghe, but he still doesn't land much. He has a good beginning to the round, but he misses a lot of punches and Bernard finds home with the Right that round. He also lands some good body shots that help give him the edge. The main reason why Hopkins won that round though was because of the headbutt + right hand counter. Calzaghe was clearly stunned by the right hand at the end there and he missed all those punches he was trying to throw too.
Round 8 has really nothing for Joe except a very good straight left hand at around 1:40 or so. But like 20 seconds after that Bernard lands a very good right hand of his own. Also in that round Bernard lands a nice left hook coming over the top. Bernard's right hand is pretty effective that round. Calzaghe throws a right hook on the break that barely hits Hopkins, but then Hopkins throws a hard right hand that lands flush on Calzaghe. Hopkins clinches at the right times those round, not letting Calzaghe get off flurries. Calzaghe misses a lot that round, while Bernard lands more. I think it's a pretty clear round for Bernard.
Round 7 is close. How do you have round 8 for Calzaghe is what puzzles me. Because of the really good straight left Calzaghe? It's amazing how slow Bernard looks here compared to Pavlik though.Last edited by warp1432; 12-23-2008, 03:41 PM.Comment
