Even more puzzling is, if Floyd was sooo concerned with becoming WW lineal champ, why did Floyd go chasing Spinks for a fight before Baldomir?

Floyd fanatics will tell u that Baldomir was the better option because Marg wasnt a household name. Was Baldomir??? Regardless of the fact that he had just beaten Judah and Gatti, people still didnt know who this guy was. They didnt even know his name. Marg on the other hand will always have the backing of a strong Mexican fanbase.

Floyd fanatics will tell u that Marg didnt deserve the shot because he had 5 losses. Ok, Baldomir had 9.

Floyd fans have to be the ONLY fans to make excuses for thier fighter NOT having to face challenges. Why woud u NOT want to see your fighter pushed to the limit? Im a big fan of Cotto, Pac, and JMM. Why would i NOT want to see them in the ring with the best possible opponents? I would never understand you guys!

Don't worry, my post stating how a solid 2009 by Margarito could lead to a big event fight with Mayweather at the start of 2010 was completely ignored by the guy who started this topic.

After several of us state our opinions as to when this fight could or could've been the biggest, he still asks the same question.

Here is a thread that i made a while back. This is why i feel Floyd should've fought Margarito back in 2006!

Talk about anything boxing related here. Where the boxing discussion is always Non Stop!

I have heard from countless Floyd fans that the reason Floyd fought Baldomir instead of Margarito, was because Baldomir was the Undisputed/Linear WW Champ, and had more to offer than Margarito did. Me personally, i doubt that was the "real" reason. This is why:

When Arum made Floyd the $8mil offer to fight Margarito, Floyd had yet to secure an opponent for his Nov 4th ppv date. He then went desperately scrambling for an opponent, when all along, Margarito was the only one willing to step in the ring with him. Not to mention, Margo was the #1 ranked WW at the time. Floyd went looking for fights with Shane (even though Shane had already stated that he will be taking the rest of the year off). He tried to get Oscar in the ring, but Oscar was in retirement mode at the time. He even went as low as to try to secure a fight with Cory Spinks! (Thank god that idea got shut down). Floyd ONLY choices were Margarito, or Baldomir (given Baldo beat Gatti). Floyd crossed his fingers, and prayed to the gods in hope of a Baldomir win. So my question is, if all along he had the option of fighting the #1 ranked WW for a career high payday, why wait, gamble, and risk losing out, in hopes that Baldomir beats Gatti? What would Floyd have done if Gatti won? There is no way on earth Gatti's people or HBO would've let that happen again, so what would Floyd have done? An even better question is, If Floyd's intentions were to go after Baldomir's titles/belts, why was Baldomir Floyd's last choice??? If you're after the WW champ, why do u go looking for fights with guys like Spinks and Shane? Floydboyz will argue that Floyd chose Baldomir over Margarito because Baldomir had the titles. Why wasnt Baldomir Floyd's first option then?????

Everyday I come to BoxingScene it is the same Arugment from Margarito Fans..

So my Question is What Year Should Floyd Should of Fought Margarito and Why?

WHAT YEAR WOULD HAVE PRODUCE THE BIGGEST HYPE AND BIGGEST FIGHT?

And for Fun Let Give you Margarito's History

What would a Margarito win do for a Floyd career in 2006,2007, or 2008??
                    In 2006

Margarito was unknown and 1 of 3 Champions in the welterweight division with 4 Loses and No Name recognition

His Best Win: Kermit Cintron and Joshua Clottey (Who Baldomir Beat)

                    In 2007

Margarito through great press and hanging on Floyd's coattails was considered the most feared man in boxing. and was 1 of 3 Champions in the welterweight division.

He Lost to Paul Williams in convincing fashion, as a result smashing all chances at his upcoming October fight with Miguel Cotto.

(Miguel Cotto wouldnt even fight Margarito in 2007)

                    Margarito
is now considered another top 10 fighter in the welterweight division.

Margarito has risen his Name recognition from 2006

                    His Best Win: Golden Johnson

                    In 2008

Margarito beats up Kermit Cintron again, and through the grace of Bob Arum gets Miguel Cotto to give him chance...

                    Margarito Beats up Miguel Cotto.

And Now he is considered the man to beat at Welter Weight...

                    ONE PROBLEM: Paul Williams

Margarito Turns down 4 Million Dollars to fight Paul Williams and Instead
Fights for Shane Mosley for 2 Million

Once Again Margarito has risen his Name recognition from 2007

His Best Win: Miguel Cotto and Kermit Cintron

So after Looking at all of this what does Margarito do for Mayweather Legacy considering That Mayweather is only looking for big fights and legacy enhancing fights ?????
                    • Does it make Mayweather The best All time?
                    • Mayweather is already consider the best of his era
                    • Mayweather was already p4p # 1 in the sport
                    • Mayweather is already going into the Hall of Fame

                    Margarito = No Money
                    .
HBO is not going to pay 20-35 Million for a Margarito Fight

example: Making 2 Million for the Mosley Fight
Floyd was making 3 million fighting Henry Bruseles.

                    Margarito = Limited Name recognition
Margarito fan base is very small
Margarito has not separated himself from the rest....

                    Ask yourself a question?
                    • How is Miguel Cotto vs. Micheal Jenning a P.P.V event!!!

                    But
                    • Margarito vs. Shane Mosely IS NOT??????

                    • How is Manny Pacquaio vs.David Diaz a P.P.V event

                    But
                    • Margarito vs. Shane Mosely IS NOT??????

                    IRONY

Why shouldnt Floyd fight Paul Williams before he fights Margarito
if he wants to fight a somebody for free basically?????

Paul Williams beat Margarito and Margarito is scared of Williams...
So If Floyd is going to fight for free why not The Man Margarito is scared of...

                    Paul Williams....

You Margarito fans are demanding Floyd fight Margarito
                    but why should he...??

NOBODY WANTS TO SEE IT..!!! IF PEOPLE want to see Margarito fight Big name fighters.....

Margarito would be headlining P.P.V's bouts on his own!!!

They is no reason why Margarito vs. Shane Mosely should not be on P.P.V.!!!!

if the fans and boxing REALLY WANT TO SEE MARGARITO FIGHT a big name fighter...!!! he would be Headling P.P.V's by now.

                    This is the reality.

So my Question is What Year Should Floyd Should of Fought Margarito and Why?

WHAT YEAR WOULD HAVE PRODUCE THE BIGGEST HYPE AND BIGGEST FIGHT?

                    IN 2009?
                    This post screams OWNAGE.

I almost cried laughing at" Best win :Golden Johnson"
