I woulda liked to see them fight after he beat Cotto this summer, but he was retired by then, so not doin it this year is excusable. As long as he stays retired, we shouldn't be worryin about this fight anymore. Margarito has a big opportunity to make 2009 HIS year. If he gets past Mosley in convincing fashion and then beats Cotto in the rematch, he can then seal the deal to be 2009 Fighter of the Year with a fight and win over Paul Williams. I would've preferred the Williams rematch to happen now, but there's still a chance to make it happen in '09.

It won't be easy to get all three of those wins, but if he does, there'd be no other name for Mayweather to come out of retirement and fight. There'd be no denying that Margarito is the world's best welterweight...like what occurs now.

If he comes out and fights Pacquiao, that's a good fight to watch as far as I'm concerned. A Ricky Hatton rematch is pointless though, so Margarito would be the BIGGEST fight to be made if things play out as described above. So according to that timeline, first quarter of 2010 would sound about right.

Nope. Not arguin for the fight to have been a bigger draw as it couldn't possibly be. Takin $ outta the equation, it simply woulda been a fight between the champ and his top challenger. Thinkin bout the dollars, hell yea it made more sense for him to face DLH then. No one disputes that.

If Margarito gets passed Mosley as he is expected (but not a total given), and he beats Cotto again, then Floyd should fight him in 2009.
