There will always be a 'young lion' out there.. even if JC beats this one. And he will remember that when he was a 'young lion', none of the American 'names' would fight him.

Calzaghe does have one thing left to prove, though.. whether he's smart enough to retire at the right time. The right time is either when he knows himself to be dangerously slower and less fit than he was, or when he has simply had enough. Only Calzaghe will know when that time has come.

Fight Dawson. It would be a good fight and silence a lot of doubters.

there's always something to prove... it depends on just how high you set your sights

the only thing i realistically demand of him is a rematch with B-Hop

true, there will always be a young lion, but Calzaghe still needs to beat one young lion. He has only beaten very old lions and young sheep. You think Jones and Hopkins would have gotten away with fighting 40 year olds 6-7 years ago? of course not.

No I don't think he does.

The fact is Hopkins though old, was the best LHW out there and most agreed no one else would have beaten him at that time, or now. So Calzaghe's clearly the best SMW and LHW which most actually do agree on now finally, allbeit still not a big enough majority.

Roy Jones wasn't quite as shot as is conveniently made out, yes he's significantly past prime but he'd still beat some top 10 LHW's. It was more of an exhibition fight really for Calzaghe to show case his skills at LHW, which he couldn't against Hopkins.

A Dawson or Taylor fight would be nice, but it isn't looking big enough for 09 with a Tarver re match, and Winky re match for Taylor.

Blame HBO on that one. If you really want to make a match up against Calzaghe for one of those two, then complain about those re matches to HBO and don't buy the PPV's. Because I really think that's confirmed Calzaghe has run out of one more fights, is old himself, cannot and should not wait around for yet another fighter people hope will beat him, so will finally retire already later than planned.

Now Calzaghe is into the weight and imagine a competent referee id hate to imagine the beating Hopkins would get.

Id hate to see Bernard stopped which would happen.

Dawson barely sc****d his way past Johnson then ducked his mandatory against Diaconu. Dawson has yet to prove that he is a highly skilled fighter. He has had one good performance against a top level opponent, that being Adamek. As to whether Dawson could perform well enough to give Calzaghe some problems is pure speculation.

If Calzaghe beats Dawson it would prove next to nothing because next to nothing is what Dawson brings to the table.

regardless of what you think would happen (i disagree with your prediction, for the record), B-Hop wants the rematch and has earned the right to a rematch

He had a lot to prove maybe 5 years ago and has'nt lived up to the hype he's had. Fighting only 3 top oppositions in his last 3 fights is shocking. The worst thing about him is, is that he will never and never gave the two guys the rematches they so deserved. He should'nt have got the decison against Robin Reid all those years ago and did'nt deserve the decison against Hopkins. But he will never rematch any of them.

A lot of guys shouldnt have been in the ring with him which says a lot about the poor level of oppsoition he's fought. Look beyond his undefeated record. Theres a reason why he's never been and will never be p4p no1.
